The way politics works Marv Cermak
Several weeks ago, there was mention here that Sue Savage appeared to be a shoo-in for an appointment in the administration of Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Now, from political insiders comes word she'll be hired at the commissioner or deputy commissioner level of a department that is still hush hush. Because it's that high up, reportedly she must vacate her elected slot as Schenectady County Legislature chairwoman. The appointment isn't surprising because Savage surrendered a six-figure patronage spot to run against forever GOP state Sen. Hugh Farley. Some delusional Dems thought she could unseat the old guy. She took a shot and now the party has to take care of her because that's the way politics works. In a related matter, my helpful insiders said John Woodward, Schenectady County clerk the past 17 years, interviewed for the state DMV commissioner appointment. This position went to somebody apparently with more political clout. Again, because that's the way politics works. I don't have a single doubt Woodward could handle the DMV top job or other key state positions. He says he still would be available if the right job opening pops up in Albany....................>>>>...............>>>>..........Read more: http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Schenctady-Spa-can-use-a-museum-1024233.php#ixzz1Egh5JiIa

I really appreciate someone like Marv Cermak breaking the bad news to me rather than some 'unicorn and rainbow' piece praising the non-essentail details of Savage's life which will most likely hit the Gazetto in the next day or so.
Thanks Marv, you rip off the band aid, but at least you do it with finesse.

When does Gillen leave?
Glorious News! The County's gain is the State's loss. Who will fill her big shoes? She will be remembered for the County home and Trustco double fiasco's. And of course her hilarious run for State Senate when she couldn't even get 40% of the vote in this County. Another DEM running from the mess they created. |

All is well, the band is playing on the deck of the Titanic, and the rats are getting in the life boats before anyone notices. |

Ahhhhh......this is apparently why suzie has been less vocal and in the lime light as of late. No wonder why she has been out of the loop regarding the county nursing home. The gazette usually has a 'suzie story' at least once a week.
WOW.....Savage AND Stratton GONE!!! |

Coumo is just stacking the deck with winners, isn't he?
First, the mayor of the most taxed city in the state with the highest welfare percentages. The water comes in, the boats go up ..
Next, the county chairwoman who couldn't even win her own district in the last election - and ultimately lost by a landslide.
Shaping up to be a great administration there Andy. |

Gone but hardly forgotten? Let's hold off on the champagne celebrations. Marv also printed that Landslide Savage was going to takeover Real Property Services. Allen, Della Salad, Stratton, Savage-who's next? Last DEM out shut off the lights. |

I agree. And administration that campaigned on lower taxes and spending, appoints TWO from the highest taxed county in the state!!!!! |

If it is true -- I wish Ms. Savage well in her new endeavor. She will bring the same energy and good leadership qualities to that position -- that she brought to the County Leg. |

Leadership?????? Doing actions that caused financially struggling homeowners to pay the taxes of the millionaires; and of course the homeowners are NOT exempt from paying their taxes. Leadership means doing things that cause people to flee in droves from Schenectady, but that's leadership, huh? |

Seriously, did you break a CFL light bulb, and not follow the clean up guidelines, and inhale all that mercury? Are you gnawing on that windowsill with the lead based paint on it again? Wow, just wow. I'm hoping that all Cuomo is doing, is yanking these people out, and putting them in positions that won't hurt Schenectady, in a last ditch effort to save the place. We've had enough "miracles". Wanna hear a miracle? I drove through there yesterday, and didn't get carjacked. |

Stratton and Savage were pulled out because they were almost 'caught' and Cuomo pulled them onto his fishing vessel.....we are almost pro-bass now... keep fishin' and we'll find the rest of THE MONEY TRAIL... |
