Quoted from 615
Actually it would be on Glen Sanders dime, he runs Key Hall for profit through a non profit.
It's definitely a Glen Sanders thing! They had a segment on channel 6 tonight how the city is booming because of the lion king. I talked to a co-worker who waited 3 hours in line for 2/22/11 tickets. |

What a joke! More free publicity for PILOT less Mercury. Some boom. The City can't even pay for basic services. It will have to borrow to meet operating expenses by summer. Mercury Morris is booming. He's taking properties off the tax rolls left and right, while the rest is all smoke and mirrors. He got his-get yours? Restaurant owners are furious. They need to stop acting like mice and fight the nonprofit/DEM cabal. |

Benny, even though this is hundred million dollar boondoggle, only you, me and about 5 other people seem to care. The focus should be on getting rid of the republican party. Read the rest of the blog, the experts all know what is best! |

I don't think anyone is focused on trying to get rid of the republican party. On the contrary.....everyone has been waiting FOR the republican party. While the liberal socialists were building their empire, the reps sat idly by and made no apparent effort to give the electorate a choice. Election after election the dems ran candidates unopposed. Let's face it, the reps got lazy!! It took the countywide independent candidates to force the reps to stand up and take notice. Whether it was the Alliance party, the NNTP or Pat Z....these candidates are working harder by campaigning and raising their own money to make a difference than the reps have done in a decade. And the rep party still can't get it together. Now not only have they been awol for a decade, there is inner fighting and for what? To control a broken party? No GB, people aren't trying to get rid of the rep party.....they just got tired of waiting. |

Well they better face the reality that instead of stupid insults they should be working to fight a common idealogical opponent. They problem with the newly converted is their childish zeal in thinking everyone else is not pure enough. And I speak as one who has been a conservative since the age of 12. Splitting the vote, or insisting on splitting the vote in some vain attempt to hurt the GOP because it is "broken" is going to insure more socialism, and that is why some people are looking towards fighting on different battlefields and leaving Rotterdam's behind... |

Insults are not the issue. Although distasteful, insults are the least any political party has to concern themselves with. It comes with the political territory. Take off the skirt and grow some balls! Fighting an ideological opponent is something that the reps should have been passionately trying to accomplish for the last decade instead of allowing the liberal socialist empire to be built. As of late, the only ideological opponent the reps have been fighting is themselves. I'm sure people would like nothing better than to witness a countywide, united, passionate, strong rep party to emerge once again. They just aren't going to sit and wait any longer. As far as splitting the vote.....the reps have done NOTHING for a decade. People, average citizens, stand up to make a difference and ALL OF A SUDDEN the reps wake up and are crying fowl. The reps were on the losing end long before independent candidates made the scene due to their own laziness. Like I said, the people are not going to sit and wait on the reps. |

There is a growing awareness that Metrograft is a total failure. It has even finally hit the Gazetto. What will help the REPS is clear opposition to this failed socialist experiment not more "Death Ray is doing a good job" happy talk. We need vivid contrasts. Both the major parties are to blame. Opposition has found new voices. "Renaissance" and an all you can eat buffet. For a limited time only at Key/Morris. |

Wasn't Mr. Mertz the first one to fail the Republican purity test? You had no problem stabbing your own in the back, now you cry when you're taken to task. It's funny, Mertz wasn't considered a team player but Angelo was. You guys are hilarious. Do you even take yourselves serious? Rotterdam Republicans need to hire somebody skilled in public relations, because these guys haven't a clue. |

You folks are a joke --- jealous of the successful strides made to improve Downtown Schenectady. You folks couldn't even run a lemon-aide stand. |

Define successful, does it mean spending $30 million dollars to make $2 million dollars with no taxes paid and taking buildings that could be future businesses off the tax roles and make them a non profit. My college economics professor would not call that a good investment, it's more like taking the money from the middle class taxpayer and giving it to elite who enjoy the arts. |

You don't have a clue, sometimes. That s the problem, many of you need history lessons. Mertz got beat in a primary. He stayed and ran to split the vote. Fair enough. You win a republican primary by having a track record as a fighter for conservatism. When you get out from behind the computer and get a sword in your hands then you can tell me what it is like. They way 3 or 4 of you rally to John is telling. If John were so independent then why isn't he running this year? Where is he? As invisible as he was until someone called him and asked him to run a decade ago. Oh yeah, his state job might be lost...and I might lose business for taking a stand...Right, so what. It is the risk you run to be free. So when the gang of you COMBINED has put up enough time, sweat, blood and CASH OF YOUR OWN to match mine over 20 years, and will risk what I have risked, call me. The problem with the conservative movement is that so many of you fell off the turnip cart yesterday when Obama got elected, yet so many of you were ASKED to get involved and recruited in the past and said NO. So don't blame the "republicans" for not doing anything. YOU are the people. YOU are the republicans. YOU expected 15-30 people to do it alone and you were unhappy with the results-now once a gang of you have gone out and played spoiler, you think that no one else ever worked as hard. You all need to go to school on that, wow.

As far as the restaurants downtown speaking up agaiinst the "KEY" competition, don't think they'd dare publicly speak up. With the sweetheart Plex deals they received, be like biting the hands that fed you. They have their place, just now farther down the" food" chain line, profit wise. With impeding their profits by this comp. just will take longer to pay back the Plex/taxpayers. |

Mansion Catering is Angelone Mazzone and the price of the meal is $28 which they say includes tax...but there is no tax as it's under the guise of a non-profit entity. The meal is pure profit for Mazzone and Morris. You're welcome. As a middle class taxpayer, if the return on a $30 investment was $2, I'd pass. But I guess the City of Schenectady and the LEG believe that when it's taxpayers money, bad investments aren't a big concern. I mean, the taxpayers will simply have to pay more...and more...and more... |

Jealous of the successful strides made to improve Downtown Schenectady. You folks couldn't even run a lemon-aide stand.
With 100 MILLION taxpayer dollars you can't run a profitable coffeehouse, can't run a profitable theatre and can't even broadcast public meetings correctly. Forget about lemonaid stands DEMS couldn't give away free coffee. Please name the new retail Death Ray/Savage have brought Downtown? Crickets chirping. A translation company flees from Downtown to Cohoes taking 100 good jobs. The City can't even pay its operating expenses. Successful strides?-lol The other joke is that no private business is negatively impacted by Key/Morris Hall. What it easier grabbing a bite next door or walking blocks in freezing weather to find an open private restaurant? The truth is coming out. There has been no repayment of ANY County taxpayer money from Proctor's and to add insult to injury they now try closing other taxpaying food service businesses. Where is any taxpayer dividends from Metrograft? A bottomless pit that keeps expanding. |
