Been seeing crews out filling in the pot holes. They did Eastern Ave. Thank you.
This by far is the worst I have ever seen roads break up and so fast and so early in the year. The temps going up and down so fast, the freezing rain the snow storms and all the salt that had to be used to keep people safe has taken it's toll.
Something tells me the budget for road repair is getting hit hard, a lot sooner in the year then the city anticipated. |

If the roads were maintained properly they wouldn't be deteriorating so fast but with all the cracks and holes for the water to get in and freeze just breaks the roads apart. The roads were in bad shape before winter even arrived this year. |

Can't disagree with you on that for sure. Have you seen Seward it started to fall apart within a year and no one called the contractors on the quality of their work. They got paid a large sum for rebuilding that street. Our tax money going to waste. |

My car feels like its going to fall apart driving through some of our streets. These quick patch jobs make up probably 25% of the actual road on many streets and you can definitely feel it when driving. |

Motorists DOT Pothole Repair
Online pothole complaint form
Did you know that different types of street defects require different equipment or trained crew to correct. Not sure if it's a pothole or a cave-in?
Learn more about different types of street defects. Watch a short film how DOT manages street defects. (92 K )/(512 K) Use these specific forms to report issues caused by street construction or problems with street lights, traffic signals, or traffic signs.
Once notified of a pothole, DOT assesses the degree or severity of the damage. The crew then removes any excess material or debris from the hole and, if there is a jagged configuration to the hole, squares it off. After this, asphaltic cement is poured into the pothole, which is followed by a mixture of hot asphalt. This material is compacted by machine and the hole is again sealed with the asphaltic cement to prevent water from penetrating the hole. Once this process is complete, the street is ready for traffic.
If your vehicle is damaged by a pothole, you can file a claim with the City of New York. Visit the New York City Comptroller's Web site and use the claim form (pdf) or call (212) 669-3500.

Thank you Mayor Stratton and City DEMS for the great job you did in maintaining city streets-NOT! Take a ride on Union St by St Johns or Nott St where it intersects with Grand Boulevard. Not just potholes-streets are heaving because of years of governmental incompetence and neglect. Disgusting. The Mayor slashed funds for road reconstruction so he could give millions to nonprofits like Bethesda House. It's patch on patch on patch. Most roads in the City need to be reconstructed-stripped down to the bed and totally repaved. Whoever the new Mayor is needs to immediately address this mess. |

Today I drove over McClellan St, down Union St to Nott Terrace, over Nott Terrace and up Bway. What a mess each of those streets were , full of holes and broken pavement that make you feel that you're driving down a RR track. It will cost a fortune to fix all the streets that are falling apart. |

Well, at least those are "side roads" and don't get traveled much /tic |

Here's a place to really watch for. If you need to go to Hamburg St, don't take Duane Ave to go over the bridge. Instead go down to California Ave. The sidewalk in front of that former monastery has had to be come street (blacktop put over it) but then, of course, the do-nothing Mayor Stratton won't declare a snow emergency (claims it's too expensive, but he CAN spend the money giving the taxpayers' money to the politically connected millionaires). So just like virtually every street in the city, snow was never plowed back to where it should have been.
But the reason they blacktopped over the sidewalk is because of that street digging on Kelton. But that blacktopped sidewalk is getting big potholes.
And god forbid anyone complain to Gary McCarthy when he's acting mayor --- IF that even happens --- you'll probably be called a nut, a mental case
What the hell happened there at Duane and Kelton, and at Odell and Kelton anyway? There's been that Mayflower moving truck parked by the dug area, the lights all night, doesn't even look like anyone is even doing any work on it. |

MC, I have to agree on that one. I came through that way this morning heading towards Brandywine and I decided that on my return trip in the afternoon, there was o way I was taking that route. It was unreal. I was behind a bus and it was rocking quite hard. |

It is really sad to think that the highest taxed county in the state can't maintain their roads!!!
My neighbors' accountant is in the city. They started to drive there the other day to bring their taxes and they turned around and went home because of the roads and the sidewalks. They have since found another accountant out of the city. They hated leaving this accountant who they had for years. But they said that not only were the roads a mess.....so were the sidewalks. They said it just isn't worth it anymore!
All of this money that the metroplex boasts about bringing in to the city, and yet the taxes are out of control and the city is falling LITERALLY apart. |

The roads are crumbling, abandoned eyesore homes can't be knocked down because of lack of funds and there's no money for basic police and fire protection. But to hear the DEMS and Gazetto tell it; "All Is Well"! Didn't you hear The Lion King is almost sold out? So what if it loses money the County taxpayers can suck it up. Some of these morons need to drive on lower State below Erie, Eastern Ave and Crane St. It can't get any worse. Entire blocks need to be demolished. Schenectady is looking more and more like Camden, NJ. And no elected official cares. |
