There is no constitutional requirement nor should there be -- that a person has to be married and have a family to run for and serve in public office.    There are many people who have never married who are leaders in their communities and/or spheres of influence.   There are many reasons why people choose or - in some cases - just never happened to get married.

To make a broad brushed, bigoted comment that there is something wrong with people who are unmarried or who don't have children is vile and should be considered hate-speech.

I don't know you personally, that post wasn't even directed toward you. You seem to be coming unhinged. My post never mentioned constitutional requirement.  My point was that our elected officials should have life experiences that reflect that of their constituents - that's all.  Take Paul Tonko for example,,,a man of his age that is still single and never EVER seen with a women - doesn't take a genius to read between the lines.  What the hell does he know about the concerns of the working family?  He never worked and never started a family of his own.

The fact that you believe my post should be considered hate-speech tells me A LOT about the person behind the screen name DVOR.

Cute look at ron get defensive for the non-married though no one even mentioned someone being unmarried...sore spot ron?

Reason he isn't married? would YOU marry ron?

Actually -- I was responding to a post a little further back in this thread that specifically said that persons who weren't married and didn't have a family should not be allowed to hold public office.

And before you start bashing other folks -- you don't know anything about my situation -- I am not about to discuss my private life on this website  ..  but I will leave it at this -- the woman that I wanted to marry and have a family with .. God chose to take her home to himself.    Maybe someday, I will find another woman to love as much as I loved her ...  and maybe not .. and I am ok with that.   So it really doesn't matter what you or the other obnoxious haters on this website think on the subject.

Of course you should be allowed to run for office.  But I also should be allowed to take your personal life experiences into consideration when casting my vote for the person that is going to BEST represent ME.  If you think me questioning a person marital or family status is out of bounds, what else do you consider out of bounds when choosing an elected official?  How about education, should a candidates level of education be considered, or should that be considered discriminatory or as DVR says "hate speech"?  I know you and Mr. Parisi didn't think FDG's education level was off limits to question, and rightfully so.

Why aren't you answering my question? You asked if the town chair was employed and I answered you. What is it that you do for a living?
Wade Abbott will be interviewed next Sunday for the position. I am not running for anything but I was referring to comments that have been made on here about single people. In anay event...answer the question: What is it that you do for a living besides being on the blog quite a few hours a day?

We all make decisions in life and basically we need to live with those decisions. I sometimes wonder if married people understand what it is like to have one income. You are right, a childless person doesn't understand what it is like to have children. However, should they not be eligible to run for office? Does this mean that Jeff Nuzzaco would never be able to run for office? WOW Then if everyone should have the same family dynamic to run for office, then should they also have the same economic social status? Things to ponder I guess.
