Not-so-funny comedy team running Rotterdam
Re Feb. 10 article, “Texting is OK at board’s meeting”: No need to go to the movies to see Laurel and Hardy — just attend a Rotterdam Town Board meeting to see the updated version of the two of them in action. Hats off to the other board members, who had the intelligence and fortitude to overrule a ban on texting at board meetings and reassigning town employees. What is it with the supervisor and deputy? Decisions that affect the town are to be made at open meetings with a majority vote of the councilmen/women. All elected officials — town, county and city — should be required to attend a state-run orientation seminar to explain their respective powers, duties and responsibilities, as do our elected judges. I have been a town resident for more than 50 years and thought I had seen and heard it all. Apparently not all the clowns are in a circus. Congratulations to the other board members who set political party affiliation aside to keep “Rotterdam a nice place to live.”

FDG and Godleweski are bad for small business -
with all this entertainment who will go to the recovery grill/movies/rollerskating/bowling/eat out on wednesday nights
that is the true reason for one meeting a month - it is hurting local business |

Is he talking about Rotterdamny.info board members? The article I read, ND and the other board members had no idea about the texting ban being proposed. The texting ban was killed after it was brought to light on this message board and the rest of the local media outlets picked up the story and began questioning FDG about the ban. Only then did FDG decide to drop the proposed ban. The other TB members had nothing to do with thwarting the texting ban. |

Cicero--that's an old line that comes from the ST days---It probably never made this website because you are all so busy being up his keester. I wouldn't be so critical if I were you folks, you created this atmosphere of incivility. RG is very good for small business saying otherwise just reveals inexperience on your part. |

Huh?? "you folks" created this atmosphere of incivility? Every board member on that board was endorsed by the Democrat Party. How the hell is anybody else responsible for their actions. Oh yeah, you must be a demohack, where everybody is a victim and people aren't responsible for their actions. |

Rumor has it that you are the only liberal socialist that is defending these FIVE!! The rest of the liberal socialists AND cons are distancing themselves from this bunch! |

Somebody feel like going shopping and getting to the next town board meeting early to pass out the red noses? (we can cut back on the big shoes, since you can't see them wearing them sitting at the desk). |

Some of us are serious about the things that we speak about on this board. The fact is that some of the things that are spoken about on this board are actually brought into the light BECAUSE of this board. While this is only 1 thing, the fact is that this was brought into the news media because of this board and it was killed because of the fact that it was brought to light. If you want, there will be credit taken from this board, but really, this is just another news source, sometimes used by other news sources as a basis, then they do a good job of investigating stories deeper, at least Mr. Mason does, I don't know about the county guy there (can't remember his name off the top of my head). It may not have been killed because of this board, but that's where the first glimmer of this story came from, in order to get this issue taken care of before the first board meeting that it would have been in effect for. |

BT I care not if I am the only socialist on this board at all. The point is it is the Republicans in Rotterdam who have created a culture of incivility. Also you have unjustly accused RG of not looking out for the small businsessman that show that you are on the perimeter of the business sector. As I have stated on another thread, as we continue resettle immigrants in Rotterdam (Bumese and Iraqqi's a new group will be sitting at the table. The questionable Mulsim mosque in Rotterdam will now beget new mosques in town and that is great diversity. The Republican party will now need to learn how to be hospitable to the stranger....remember we were all strangers once. ST administration submarined the town big time and you stood by and cheered him on. |

Taking in Muslims in Europe has worked out so well for them that they now want to change the way they deal with them. |
