SCHENECTADY Guidarelli looks likely to run for mayor BY KATHLEEN MOORE Gazette Reporter Reach Gazette reporter Kathleen Moore at 395-3120 or moore@dailygazette.com.
Republican Peter Guidarelli is likely joining the race for mayor next week. He will make an announcement by Tuesday, he said. For weeks, he has said he’s thinking about another run for mayor. Now, he’s apparently made up his mind. Republican county committee Chairman Thomas Buchanan was careful not to give away Guidarelli’s announcement early, but he said, “Obviously, he’ll be a frontrunner if he runs, so we’re excited about that.” He added that he thinks Guidarelli is the most experienced politician in the race. “Nobody knows the issues in the city of Schenectady better than Peter Guidarelli,” Buchanan said. “He was on the City Council, chairman of the county Legislature, he ran a very vigorous campaign for mayor, he’s been very active in the community.” Democratic city Chairman Richard Naylor said he expects Guidarelli to announce that he’s entering the race. .......................>>>>................>>>>................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r01502&AppName=1

guidarelli would have a lot of support if he chose to run for mayor. There are 'many' folks in the city who are disenfranchised with Hull. Some think that if the choice was between McCarthy or any dem vs Hull....it would be a lesser of two evils. Many don't look at guidarelli that way. It would be guidarelli hands down.
Many hope that the reps won't endorse Hull. but time will tell.

Wonder if in a 3 way race between any dem/Hull/ Peter G. if the dem. was really strong, and a win was likely, would Hull/Peter G. consolidate their base to prevent a dem. victory? |

Would'nt it be ironic that if in a close vote come Nov. for Mayor/Council seats that the dems. come up short in votes to win, by the number equal to the number of city employees who do not live in the city, as they cannot vote in the city election. |
