Stratton will leave office in Schenectady as of midnight on April 3. From that point, city council president Gary McCarthy, also a Democrat, will take over the duties of mayor.

McCarthy won’t hold the title or office of mayor. He will not receive the mayor’s salary.

The city council can choose to appoint an interim mayor, but by law, the council president handles mayoral duties in the absence of such a selection.

“People won’t notice any change in the delivery of services,” McCarthy said.

Guilderland has great schools. really can't blame him as most of us would have loved to get our kids out of the city schools. My one son went to Shalmont and then Mohonasen , SOOOO much better than what was here.

Even rotterdam's town board member, NDileva, who is a principal at a city middle school, moved to rotterdam to give her kid a better life in a better school district. I believe she said that right at a town board meeting.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
