It simply facinates me how Kathleen Moore can spin truth into a heaping pile of cow pie! Stratton turned around Schenectady?
I'm not suprised as she's up everybodies butts with a big smile on her face, at the horrible greivance fiasco two years ago, her and Masto were inseperable, and things people did tell her were not quoted as told. |

I previously equated GE rebuilding in this area, to Jeff Immelt.
This article however suggests the relationship with the city was horrible in 2003.
So I wonder how much of the article is true in that respect... If Stratton really did make a difference here. (I do credit him, as does Vince Riggi, with going after the corruption in the police department... But quite frankly can't really credit him with much more than that) |

I'll give him alittle credit for the police issue BUT he waited too long, corruption had been going on for along time. |

"He guided the City out of a deficit"-Right and into a bigger one. He turned around things so well they couldn't pay for basic police and fire services. This cow pile was expected since 70% think Straton took the job to help himself and screw the City. "He filled City Hall with professionals!" Like Sharon Jordan, JP and DM?-ROTFLMAO! More like DEM morons who couldn't get a job in the private sector. He did a great job of fighting crime and gang violence-NOT!. He real fought high taxes-NOT!. A force for efficiency in government when not crying to raise his own bloated salary. |

Kathleen Moore is a great reporter --- and the nattering nayboobs of negativity just can't handle the truth that she wrote in her article. |

Oh, so handling a deficit by cutting essential services and giving millions to millionaires and making the financially struggling homeowners pay HUGE increases in taxes is good, huh? How about all those millionaires paying their own property and school taxes??????????? |
| Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies. |

Good Riddance! February 9, 2011 at 10:05 am by Will King
I really do not have anything against Brian Stratton personally, I really don’t. I don’t know the man other than through his ‘work’ as the Mayor of Schenectady.
It just strikes me as odd when I see that Governor Andrew Cuomo makes a statement saying he wants to bring “talent” back to state government and then he goes out and brings in Brian Stratton?
Huh?!
I’m not so sure I would put Stratton in the line with the word “talent”.
Per Times Union article, here;
Stratton inherited the city’s basement credit rating and massive debt, but gained community confidence as he righted the city financially. The Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority also began redeveloping downtown under Stratton’s watch.
What community did he gain confidence from? Anyone I talk to and most of the people who comment on some of these Schenectady blog posts have no confidence in the man.
Yes, the Schenectady Metroplex Development Authority did do a nice job with downtown and that’s admirable, I mean State St and the immediate surrounding area is much improved, but that is where his revitalization of this ‘miracle’ known as Schenectady ended.
Take a trip to Hamilton Hills or Mt Pleasant and tell me what a great job Stratton has done.
Hell, I live in a decent neighborhood (Bellevue) and even there the sidewalks and streets (particularly on Broadway) are crap. My car was broken into and my house robbed and we have only lived there for 2 1/2 years.
Also per TU article;
Last year, the mayor had also seemingly managed to get police department corruption under control with the resignation or firing of nine rogue cops.
“Seemingly” is the key word there. At least the Albany Police Dept looks worse off than Schenectady right now, which is a definite improvement, but certainly nothing to brag about…at all.
I’m not saying the grass is always greener on the other side and I’m not saying Schenectady is an easy fix (it’s probably the furthest thing from it), but it’s not impossible. It’s time other areas of the city got as much attention as State St.
What Stratton has done is say he is going to clean a whole window, but just managed to wash a tiny corner. Sure, it’s nice to finally see through the window at all, but soon, aren’t you going to want to see through the whole thing?
(Update: Per sources confirming to The Business Review, former Schenectady Mayor Brian Stratton will head up the state’s Canal Corp. So get ready for one stretch of one canal to be really, really pretty and the rest to fall to shambles.)

WOW! That would never be printed in the Gazetto. Stratton is blasting off to a bigger meat ticket-let's see who they can get to next Captain the SS Titanic. Everyone is laughing at Stratton who made a complete fool out of himself on WTEN with Johnny Mac. |

The Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity need to be reminded that under the GOP mayors Schenectady ended up with a 10 million structural budget deficit --- downtown was a ghost town --- jobs were leaving the city at record pace ------>>>> and it seems that they want to go back to those days. There must be something funny in the tea that they are drinking. |

Stratton's home will be on the market soon enough. Now is a chance for DV to move into Schenectady....it's a nice house off Rosa Road. Don't be scared of the property taxes, they go towards funding MIRACLES!!!! |
