How about taxing the tax exempt businesses? And asking Union College (a non profit) to put the students to work shoveling snow banks, then I guess the parishioner of churches should shovel too.....NOT!

The role of government is to provide safe/maintained and passable roads and sidewalks. ALL roads!!

The parish used to shovel the snow on Yorkston and Lansing by the school.   If the winter was particularly bad, we would hire someone to haul out the snow.   -- until the school district leased it and as part of the agreement the school district took over responsibility for that.

Oh, that's why it's been a disaster - the school district is responsible.  It'll never get done.

Might want to consider concrete posts,3-4 at 3-4 ft. high out front.   That'll stop a vehicle AND prevent injury/loss of life to a patron/staff  Driver has an airbag so less chance of injury to driver hitting a concrete post.   Protects unprotected customers/staff.   Insurance is okay, but does not bring back an arm,leg,or life.

That could be considered setting a "trap" if someone gets hurt crashing into them, by some ambulance chaser. Sickening but true.

What about the person walking by the store/customer in the store who might get hurt by an out of control vehicle into the store.   One would think their ins. premiums would be less if such a safety barrier was in place.   Especially given it's history of occurences.  Wonder if their ins. rates have increased after each event?     Yes it's true any business would face the possibility of a vehicle crashing into it etc.   But the difference being here, and this is the subject up for discussion, is the proven history of occurence.   And being that the hill won't be removed any time soon, it's liklihood of a similar event occuring again is guaranteed.

Most would have been outta there after the last 'crash-in'!!

Ya know what they say...........location is everything.

But then perhaps there is no mortgage on the bldg and the cost is only taxes. They have been there forever!! And who would buy or rent it at that location? Moving with higher overhead may not be a financially sound move. Just sayin

we really cant be worried about barriers in front of liquor stores or any store for that matter....we are responsible for ourselves and sh!t just happens every
day....maybe lower premiums at the liquor store but they need to collect the $$ from somewhere else(LIKE OUR F'EN PREMIUMS)....


THE LESS PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE WE BECOME THE MORE IT COSTS US.....that includes not making other people protect us.....

as for the icey hill.....that would be the dumb-a$$ leaders....we already get raped for those tax collections--it's an upfront 'fee'
