Seeing thunderSNOW in Amsterdam and Queensbury right now.  Kinda cool.

My Mom called about a half hour ago from albany and asked if I heard thunder, she heard a few good claps.

My son called me from Siena and he heard thunder and saw lightning.

I remember the "thunder snow" storm we had on Christmas Eve in the mid 1970's.   Went into church for Midnight Mass and not a speck of snow on the ground --  heard the thunder during the 1st Reading  .. and by the time we got out of church there was at least a foot of snow on the ground and more coming down.

Good thing, my Mom and us kids were living on Lansing Street at the time -- we had at least a couple dozen relatives and friends stay over until the plows came through in the morning.

Actually, it wasn't as hard as I'd thought - but I can't find any evidence of a historic snow storm in the 1970's on Christmas.

It was in the mid 1970's.    The cars could not make it up Crane St hill .. so a number of folks stayed with families that they knew close to the church.    That was back in the day when most of the homes on  Lansing and Yorkston Street were owned by parishioners.

Still sticking to that story, eh?  Funny, history books don't show any snow on Christmas in the 1970's.

You have to look for weather history in Schenectady, NY  .. not at the Albany Airport as the "thunder snow" was very localized in nature.

Also -- Christmas Eve Mass was quite long in those days -- we started with carols and readings  .. had the procession to the manger .. then the rest of the Mass with a long homily.    

My brothers and I served at the altar every Christmas - and I was always the thurifer.   I mention that only because when I went to dispose of the charcoal after the Offertory  . I remember opening the back door of the sacristy and being shocked by the snow coming down.

I have a picture in my room of the family gathered in the living room after Midnight Mass .. but I did not put the year on it .. I know it was the mid 1970's  .. couldn't have been 1979 or later  and it couldn't have been 1974or earlier,

well -- it did happen  -- we had a huge snowstorm on Christmas Eve (starting around 11 PM ) into Christmas Day in the mid 1970's.    And most of it fell while we were at Midnight Mass.    

It doesn't matter to me whether you believe it or not --- it happened.

Since there's only recorded data based on weather reporting stations, Albany Airport is the only data that could possibly back up your story.  I find it nearly impossible to believe that Schenectady got a foot within a couple hours (and had "not a speck on the ground" before that), but Albany Airport (9 miles up the road) got 0.0".
