The ratings don't say so...

FNC is only doubles the ratings of every other netwrok, that is down from tripling them.

FNC has NEVER come close to equaling the News Ratings of any of the big three ABC, NBC, CBS.  Not even close.

Fox is Conservative television... Not news, and so has a captive audience... Fox feeds the Conservative need to hear the news through a Conservative filter with out regard to the truth.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral
philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

January 2011:
FNC was down -21% in Total Viewers and -31% in younger viewers compared to January 2010 (Total Day, Mon-Sun).

January 2011 Ratings:
MSNBC Only Cable News Network to Show Growth

FNC is still on top of "cable news" (Not Network News) but it's share is declining while only MSNBC is growing.
The original topic of the thread was "trusted name in news"...
FNC loses the trust then loses it's viewers... a trend that is expected to continue.

If that is true Bumble, then it falls in the "From Bad To Worse" category.

(I wouldn't be surprised... Conservatives do seem to have this need to be told what is "true" instead of relying on their own brain.)

ALL news media has issues with hot minute by minute issues......I dont trust them for their paintbrush strokes......I like to check the 'age' of the
so called dried paint.....alot of times it's white wash.....ANY news media fits that.....

apparently we have left the dry fact giving because it wasn't ARTSY enough.....hence all those dumba$$ smiling faces that dont add up to much
more than following the Kardashians on Twitter.......

Katie Couric was a little quick with her Twitter finger Saturday.

The CBS News anchor mistakenly informed her 140,000 followers that embattled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak had stepped down after 30 years.

Not true.

"As many of you have already heard Mubarak has resigned," Couric posted before backing off the report.

The president's son, Gamal, did resign from his post with the Egyptian ruling party's senior executive committee. And there were reports that Hosni Mubarak had quit his post as party boss.

But that was not true, either.

The source of the erroneous report was apparently Al Arabiya television. Reuters relayed the resignation story, which was later retracted by the Arabic-language news channel.

When the confusion cleared, Mubarak remained the country's president - and the head of the National Democratic Party.

A pair of Couric tweets reflected the fluid nature of the news emerging from Egypt.

"Lots of conflicting reports," she wrote at one point. "Thanks for your patience."

A short time earlier, Couric wrote, "Situation is still confusing. Trying to sort it out!"
