I wonder what our left-wing friends have to say about this.  I mean really, what about the "separation of church and state?"  Shouldn't they not be allowed to dress in religious garb going to school?  That is, unless it's a private school, not paid for by taxpayer money.

As a friend of mine says: I've got a religious AK I like to carry around. I'll petition the courts.

Students probably cant carry a baseball bat  and no more sling shots to class  either- but baptized students of the Sikh faith will be allowed to wear the kirpan at school with a couple of  conditions the knife must be DULL and be sewn inside a sheath in such a way that the blade cannot be removed from the sheath-

-but another irrelevant  RIDICULOUS  irrelevant post from MT - attempting to make a point  ?  That kid in your post is an annoying punk-  he needs a ' time out '-

What a complete FAIL you are.  Religion is prohibited in public schools, so a "religious object" - specifically a weapon, shouldn't be allowed, dull or sharp.

Hey - wake up this isnt Rosary boy-  the school is located in metropolitan Detroit - which happens to have the largest Muslim population outside of the middle east.

This zero tolerance rule has been abused, we have kids being expelled for bringing in butter knifes for their lunches. Kids are being suspended for just drawing a gun on a piece of paper. When I was in school I would carry a pocket knife with me everyday, not because I wanted to cause violence but because I used it everyday. I attended building trades in BOCES and many of the jobs required a knife. Common sense just needs to be used, if they wish to continue the zero tolerance rule then guess what it should apply for everybody no matter the religion.

Common sense that's the part that's lacking with these school administrators.

Sihks are not Muslim. Why would anyone confuse the two? What a dope.
