Broadway, Helderberg Ave and Guilderland Ave in Broadway were good -- not great this morning between say 10 AM and noon.

The worst of the snow will be tonight and Wednesday.

If the roads can be cleaned without declaring a state of emergency, it actually saves the taxpayers money.

The previous snowstorms were hardly major ones.   The current one will probably rise to the level of an emergency --- if the forecasters are correct in their projected snowfalls for Tuesday night into Wednesday.

But DV, ..... DO YOU HAVE A FREAKIN BRAIN IN YOUR HEAD????????????????????????

IT IS TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE to clean the roads without a snow emergency.

Explain this DV.   Explain HOW the plows can push the snow back to the curbs when there are cars parked????????????   HUH?  HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH? HUH?

It's COMMON SENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, DV, you need an education.  When the plows go down the street, they push the snow up against the cars.  People pull out of the parking spot and there is a mound of snow a car width away from the curb.  But the plows do NOT return two days later, or three days, or whatever, when cars have moved.

Because your buddy mayor does not declare a snow emergency, that means that it is TOTALLY TOTALLY LEGAL to park on EACH AND EVERY STREET in the city (except the priority streets).    When the mayor fails to declare a snow emergency, cars do NOT have to move out of the parking spots.  Some will, some won't.  Then, if you had a brain, you would grasp that the plows then weave in and out of the cars and when the cars move, like I said, mounds of snow remain in the road, never to be plowed.  Then, it takes only half a brain to know that the mound of snow get's driven over, and then it gets hard packed.  Then you get a little warm up, it becomes slushy, then there is a hard freeze and tell us what happens DV.....what happens when slush freezes in below zero temps????????   Huh???????   It turns to ICE, sometimes several inches thick.  Now, when there is slush, what happens when you step in it, you make a footprint which then hards to ice, you have that rut.  And then the ruts can do BIG TIME MAJOR damage to your car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, and that's why a friend of ours who drives CDTA said it was difficult to get up Broadway hill and it was not plowed til about 11:30.

Again, you have proven your lack of credibility many times over, so therefore, what you claim about the streets is totally wrong.  Until you are ready to prove it with photos posted here.

I was wrong last week when I said a snow emergency was not called for.

The roads would be MUCH better if it had been...

The plows were rolling this morning and the traffic was moving   on Helderberg Ave, Guilderland Ave and Broadway in Bellevue.   I said it was good -- not great.   But considering it was right in the middle of the storm the
traffic was moving on the main roads.    The side roads didn't look like they had been plowed yet ..

but I stand by my statement that the MAIN ROADS in Bellevue were plowed between 10 AM and Noon this morning.

BREAKING NEWS

They are towing cars on McClellan.  At 5PM there were only about four cars between State and Bradley, and one was being towed.  Maybe a lot of others were towed earlier because the street looked nearly "empty" of parked cars.

When I say "towing" I mean there was a tow truck parked in front of the car hooking up, and a police car behind the vehicle to be towed, with its lights flashing.

Take that MikeChristine!

YES!   I saw that when I dropped a co-worker off in that vicinity.  But I will tell you, I called Ch 6 today maybe about noon or so, because I saw the very long list of snow emergencies.  I called them because of two things that made my jaw drop.  First, a VERY VERY long list of snow emergencies by eveything other than Schenectady, and then Schenectady cancelled their trash collection.  And I thought, this would be perfect.  Just think of this I told them.... Schdy cancels trash collection (pushing everyone back one day), obviously because the trash trucks can't get through the streets because the mayor refuses to declare an emergency to facilitate efficient plowing.  That in return for high taxes.  And then I explained about the calls to the city a co-worker and I made, first to the street plowing office who said that the police arrange for towing and then mentioned that the police dept said they only ticket, that they don't tow, not even on priority streets (and of course, they had no answer when the priority street parking rules were mentioned).  And I mentioned how the Gazette had that story with Olsen concerned about the snow on the roads turning hard.  I said it just goes beyond common sense.   The person with whom I spoke said they'd try to call the mayor's office.

Now, I don't know if that's what did it, I'm not going to try to take any credit for it.  But it is truly amazing.

I think maybe we should give the credit to DV for this one.  Since he probably makes daily calls to "the party" reporting on what is written here, maybe "the party" started thinking they better not look like the fools that they are.

And I was shocked when over that way dropping my co-worker off.

And would it be true to say that if the millionaire political cronies of the SOS team paid taxes it would save the taxpayers money?

DV, come on, this mayor has not declared one - NOT ONE snow emergency (odd and even parking) in his total time as mayor!!!!!!!!!    Not even when we had that Valentines storm nor St Patrick's day storm both in 2007 which were each, I think 18 inches (or close to it)

Take a close look at these 'priority streets'.
For example...Campbell Ave - from Broadway to Fairview Ave......how many blocks is this?

It will be interesting to see if the  tax exempt business's roads are nice and plowed.
