Quoted from Walt
I lived 3 houses up from St adaberts for 8 years  . Every other house is a drug den ,its worse than the hill . The Multifamily home across from the church just changes fro one drug dealer to another . Getting a cop to come to that neighborhood is almost impossible .I feel bad for the good neighbors I left behind  but that area is bad . This Numbnut that calls himself DVR is full of sh*t,if he cant see whats going on around here he is stupid . The only other thing of is that he is a troll, just here to rile people up . No one can be that stupid can they?

When is the closing on your property in Mt Pleasant DV???????   Huh?????   If it's so good, why aren't you buying??????   Answer that DV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks better when you only go on Sunday? Everyone knows that Mt Pleasant is in free fall. 3 more businesses are ready to move. There is nothing left to build upon.

Another City neighborhood destroyed by 36 straight years of DEM morons. It is worse than the Hill and it was a great place back in the day. Bakeries, German tappies, fine clothing stores, jewelry stores and it's own movie theatre. People from all over shopped in Mt Pleasant-now they can get away fast enough.

For those folks who just want to call me names and be  nasty .. here is my response "if you want to fight - stickyour head up your tail end and fight for air" --- I am just going to ignore you and talk with the decent rational folks here.

I strongly believe that despite the problems in Mont Pleasant that MOST of the residents of that neighborhood are good people -- that is why I said and believe that the neighborhood IS good.

The fact that this man is willing to invest his money, time and effort into opening a restaurant/bakery is a good thing.   There are many people from the neighborhood and outside the neighborhood who are planning to patronize this restaurant/bakery.  We want the new business to succeed because we want the neighborhood to succeed.

The sad part is that in about 2 weeks, the place will be broken into and robbed.  At the corner of Crane and Crisler, I see the gangs hanging out all the time.  They have nothing better to do.

I remember about 20 years ago, I personally hung out with friends on Second Ave.  Night time.  Females.  Nothing happened.  Now, I wont drive down that street.  I have friends that live on First Ave and they want to find a new place to live.  She has children and she wont let them out to play.   Even though she does have a job, she does collect help from welfare for rent.  They wont let her move.  If she moves out on her own, she cant afford it.

I will give the diner the benefit of the doubt but I wont be eating there.  It will become a hang out soon enough.

So when is your closing date?  What brain would wait until a house got expensive before buying.   Since the value of houses is so very very low in Mt P, shouldn't you be buying NOW.  I mean, really, waht is better?  Buy a house when it's $30,000 and then when the neighborhood improves the house appreciates to $120,000 as an example?  Or is be better to buy a house in the future when it's has appreciated and costs you a ton of money more.

You are the one who says Mt P is a wonderful neighborhood and worth investing in.  So tell us when your closing date is.  Because anyone who makes some statement like that should be investing in it.

Ah, it's only worth investing in if the taxpayers are footing the bill.  And you don't want to be a taxpayers in the city because you know dang well that the taxes are way too high for the services, and you know dang well that the continual robbing the taxpayers of their hard earned money to give to the millionaires, well,. who would want to "invest" in socialized businesses.

Not to mention, it's easier to not have a job and live off the taxpayers

Sad, you want Mont Pleasant to turn around but you won't back up it up with .. actually shopping and eating there.    For years, our family patronized the pork store in Hamilton Hill despite the decline in that neighborhood.     I will not let a bunch of thugs keep me from going to Mont Pleasant and supporting the institutions and businesses located there.

I value my life and the money in my pocket.  Im tired of my car getting broke into.  At one time I had no problem being in that area.  But the people hanging in the street scare the snot out of me.  I used to stop at the Stewarts in that area for coffee in the morning but I dont any more.  Too many hanging out at the laundry place.  And I know there were there to wash clothes.  You can tell who is who with the gangs.  I see that, I dont go near it.  I wont get gas at the Hess on Brandywine anymore for the same reasons.  I watched drugs deals go on behind it.  I go somewhere else.  The little grocery store on Crane Street near Cumberland farms is another dealer hang out.

Go look at the FamilyWatchdog website and look where all the sex offenders live.  You will see a lot of them in that area.  I value my childs life as well as my own.  Between the offenders and the gangs, it really is not a safe place.  Im not trying to be mean in posting this, Im just stating a fact.  Its there for everyone to see.

I stuck around for 10 years living near there and driving through there every day back and forth to work.  I tried.  I gave it my effort.  I went to the stores there.  I gave up because its just not safe.

I used to live on the corner of Main and Howard - like 10-11 years ago.

When someone gets shot in my driveway, it's a problem.

When someone busts my kitchen window with a stray bullet, it's a problem.

When someone breaks into basements, it's a problem.

I rarely even go in that neighborhood anymore. Nothing there is worth risking my life for.

Exactly.  When you leave your house in the morning and you have to wake up the bum that crawled into your porch, thats a problem.  When you go to work in the morning and have to call a tow truck because two tires are slashed and your window is broken, thats a problem.  Not only to your car but a few others on the street.  When you have to call the cops because someone hopped your fence and is trying to break into the back door, thats a problem.  And thats not even in Mont Pleasant or the Hill.  Thats in Bellevue.  Ive watched from stop lights what goes on in those places.  Thats enough for me.  Its bad enough when its me alone in the car but when I have my child with me, thats much worse.  I fear for her.  There is no way in H3ll that Im allowing my child to have to live and grow up with that stuff.  I spent the first ten years of my life on a farm. After that I grew up in Colonie.  I spent a little bit of time living in Colorado.  I also spent some time near Buffalo.  But I came back to this area.  Ive lived in Delmar and Guilderland.  But I came back to Schenectady because I did like it and the area I was living in.  The past few years turned out to be the worst.  I cant live like that.  I dont have to live like that.

Mont Pleasant has its problems -- but it is certainly not as bad as parts of Baltimore or Detroit -- and I've lived in and still visit both of those cities.

I have never been a victim of crime in Schenectady, Baltimore or Detroit.   The only time I had problems with criminals was in supposedly "nice areas"  Loudonville/Colonie and in Clifton Park.

The best way to defeat crime is to not back down.  To go on driving through, shopping in and visiting or living in the neighborhood.   My family and I continue to support  Mont Pleasant businesses like Combo's and will support the new restaurant/bakery as well.    And I know there are many others who share my view.   We will not become "victims" ---  the rest of you can go hide in your bunkers and wallow in the "victim-mentality".

Unless you're armed doing what you suggest DVOR is a recipe for getting mugged, beaten, stabbed, or shot. Defending your home is one thing asking for trouble is quite another.

Don't tell me I've got a "victim mentality" when we're sitting in the living room watching tv and a bullet comes through the kitchen window.

Don't tell me I've got a "victim mentality" when we're sleeping, to be awoken by the sounds of a gunshot in our back yard - and subsequent pounding on the door because someone's been shot in my driveway.

Three years ago I did a walk through of a beautiful 2 family in MP. It interior was gorgeous, spacious and a great deal for what was being asked pricewise. Before leaving, the realtor said "The interior is so beautiful becasue you really can't spend too much time outside in this area".

MP is really bad and only when people like DV and the leaders of Schenectady open their eyes and start to do something (like live there or start getting the drug dealers out of the area), can it stop getting worse. Right now, moving a businesses like Marcellas down the road to a 'safer' location just proves that the Plex and the City have given up on MP.

Where is the outrage for the elected officials?
When was the last time stratton, (the entire city council)savage or gillen walked around crane/cutler/mtpleasant/hamilton hill.....during the day and AT NIGHT?
How many times do they even drive through those areas?

All of those residents, collectively, all at one time.....needs to storm the city council meetings with pitchforks. (oops...is that hate speech?)
Seriously....the mt pleasant folks, the hill folks accompanied by the surrounding town folks (cause its coming  your way) should all go.

More businesses are fleeing Crane St. This is official DEM City Hall policy. Cherry pick the few good businesses for the "Miracle" and let everyone else drop dead. Same thang in Bellevue. Wait until the YMCA home moves next door to the DSS Taj Mahal. Does the nit wit Bellevue Neighborhood Association support this too?

As far as the Diner, they should immediately call Proctor's. Then they could get tax free status, access to Metrograft largess and Mercury Morris could again expand his eating and drinking empire. No one will say nuthin-and the Gazetto will cheer it on.
