DVR--btw if you are in charge--you SHOULD have put her on the commission. I did hear that she did a lot to get the slate elected. You screwed up. |

She wanted to volunteer and was told to drop dead. She did 1,000 times more work to get that slate elected than DemocrapicVoodooRepeater. All he did was type 4,000 lying posts on the forum in record speed while he munched on stale Doritoes at the Bates Motel.
I was involved in much more of the door-to door campaign than she was. I was involved in all of the campaignplanning sessions ... not to mention the petition drives ... and - as far as fundraising I have spent more time raising funds for the Democratic party and its candidates than she has. Oh -- and I don't eat doritoes. |

First - the decision on which names to recommend was made by a consensus of the commission --- not by me alone. Second - she did not show up at the December meeting (along with 2 others who had expressed interest and didn't show up). How much work was done to elect anyone was NEVER a criteria for considering names for the commission. And as far as I am concerned should never be a criteria. BTW -- she will be attending the commission meetings as the representative of the Supervisor ... and did so this evening. No one stopped her from attending ... and she participated like everyone else. So .. long story short .... she made a big deal about nothing. That is her choice .. it is a free country. But, I am also free to say that I feel that writing those letters to the editor was not appropriate and attempting to politicize the commission was not appropriate. And now that I have said my piece ... the matter is over and done with - as far as I am concerned and I will not be discussing it further. |

I have read what was said. I never mistreated Mrs. Dufek. I have nothing more to say on the subject to you or her or anyone else. |

In the interest of "transparency" why shouldn't anyone who is interested come to any of the meetings. We are all taxpayers. DVR you should have put her on the commission. She is interested and seems to be invested in the welfare of the town. You, my friend, screwed up. You should have gone to St. Rose. They teach ethics and live by them. |

I went to Siena -- I studied ethics -- I live by them. She can attend the meetings like any other resident -- and in her case ... the Supervisor has asked her to attend as his representative. The Town Board approved the resolution setting the official membership at 9 --- the other reps serve as ex officio members. Residents have always been allowed to attend and even join in our discussions. If she is interested in becoming one of the 9 official members ... she will have to submit her name when there is a vacancy or in December 2011 when we will send recommendations for the 3 seats whose terms end December 31, 2011. Then -- just like last December ... the decision (the recommendations for appointment ) will not be mine to make but will be made by consensus of the 9 full members of the commission. BTW --- I did not screw up .. because I did not make the decision ... it was a group decision and I have already explained the reasoning behind it. |

Maybe DVOR is pissed because she didn't support him for town chair? |

DVOR - I don't agree with you much, but stand your ground. I think your posts on this thread are spot-on.
Boomer - Suck it. |

Gee Hack. You don't post often but you have quite the mouth. The person who I am noticing is quite accurate is Boomer and I have only benn posting a short time. Sounds like you are right up DVR's thread. Exactly what kind of a hack are you? Because if it is political--you fall short. |

Boomer, you pretend as if you know more than you really do about the situation. The fact is that the public is always welcome at Parks Commission meetings. When visitors have attended the meetings - they have sate with us at the conference table -- and been allowed to actually participate in the discussions. .. not just in a limited "privilege of the floor". You have never seen that at a Town Board meeting or at meetings of any other commission of the town. Second fact, I do not view my role as chairman as being an autocratic one. Decisions are made by consensus of the members. That is why I asked each of the 4 persons who expressed an interest in becoming a part of the commission to attend the December meeting --- to see how we operated and for the rest of the commission to be able to learn about the interested individuals and then make a decision regarding the recommendations for appointment. |

This letter is an attempt to clarify for Rotterdam residents what happened with parks and recreation committee appointments for 2011 at the Town Board’s Jan. 1 organizational meeting.
First of all....most rotterdam residents just laughed when they read this. They really don't give a crap.
Quoted Text
I don't understand why anyone would refuse someone who wants to volunteer their time to make Rotterdam a better place to live.
LD doesn't have to 'understand'.....it is what it is....get over it!
Quoted Text
I have lived in Rotterdam for 40 years. I have two adult children, ages 26 and 19. They grew up using the parks and enjoyed them very much. I am blessed to have a new granddaughter living in Rotterdam, who I hope someday will enjoy the parks as much as my children did.
This amounts to about a hill of beans. There are probably 15K rotterdam residents who can state the same. Big deal!
Quoted Text
I wish I had been given the opportunity to help make the parks better for my grandchild and all the children in the town
They 'did' give LD the opportunity to 'apply' for this position.
Quoted Text
I am disappointed that my nomination was rejected by Councilwoman [Nicola] DiLeva, Councilman [Matt] Martin and Councilman [William] Calder
Who nominated LD in the first place?
Quoted Text
I find it very disturbing that when new people try to become involved in town government as volunteers, they are met with such resistance.
LD should be disturbed. Disappointed but not disturbed. And the way rotterdamians read it....it wasn't resistance.....it was just a vote. Perhaps LD, as a Democratic committeewoman, believed that she would be 'entitled' or a 'shoe in' for this position because of her party affiliation and her loyalty to the party. Perhaps LD thought this as a quid pro quo position. Perhaps she thought that she did more work for her party than any other which would earn her the honor. This appears to be the only reason since she 'did' politicize this issue. Qualifications were never mentioned except for the one that just about half of all rotterdamians could also list. |
