Copies of every official document of the Commission - agendas, minutes and reports - have been submitted to the Town Clerk's Office .. I did my part by giving them the copies of those documents. I still retain copies of those documents and all other materials both physically and electronically at home. Copies of the documents that the public need to access to were submitted to the Town Clerk ... the public does not need to have access to the copies of the same documents stored in my house.
All the minutes and agendas have been given to the Town Clerk's Office -- with the exception of the December 2010 and January 2011 minutes which need to be approved.
Which is it - they've all been filed, or two months haven't been filed? |

Maybe FDG sent Ms.Dufek as a representative to make sure they weren't discussing making FDG's compound into a park....or he was making sure no one was speaking ahead of a news release the gumbas were discussing....???? |

It is apparent that FDG and BG are having difficulty communicating with not only other town board members, but town committee folks and town employees. The parks committee just seems to be another victim of rotterdam's present administration. I have to agree with dvr on this one. The commissioner of this committee should have been included in the talks regarding any changes.
But this just seems to be the path that rotterdam's present administration is taking involving town departments, employees and volunteers.

When minutes are approved, I submit them to the Town Clerk the next business day. I think I was crystal clear when I said that the December minutes have not yet been approved and the January ones don't get approved until the February meeting. BTW --- unlike the other commissions and boards of the town - the Parks Commission relies ENTIRELY on volunteers. We do not have a taxpayer funded secretary to type up our agendas or minutes. So far, it has worked out quite well. |

Only the Town Board can spend money. The Parks and Recreation Commission can only make recommendations. It is legally possible for the Town Board to give the commission additional powers - but so far such a resolution has not been drafted or approved. The April 2009 resolution created the commission but did not specify the number of members of the commission nor the term of office of its members. The two resolutions, written by the commission, adopted by the Town Board on January 1, 2011 set the number of appointed members at 9 for 3 year terms with 1/3 of the memberships' terms expiring on December 31 of each year and allowed for "ex officio members" including town board members, relevant town staff, a student rep from each school district in the town and reps from the various sports leagues and the senior center. The question of whether to give the commission has been discussed at our meetings. The reason that we have not made any recommendations in that regard to the Town Board is that we are focusing our priorities on tasks that don't require any additional powers. Our goals for 2011 are: - secure Town Board approval of the Vision 2020 Town Parks and Recreation Plan as part of the town's comprehensive plan
- secure inclusion of the "Bicentennial Park" proposal as part of the Rotterdam Junction BOA Study proposal and begin actual implementation of the steps necessary to begin developing that park
- Complete a detailed inventory on the condition of the existing town parks and recreational facilities - so that the commission can eventually make recommendations for future improvements - if needed
- promote the ReTree Rotterdam program
- begin creating and implementing town events that promote our town and its parks - including possible fundraisers to raise money for recreation programs and a capital fund for parks
- begin developing a year round schedule of recreational activities for residents of all ages
- simultaneously begin future planning for a multi-generational community center and take steps to improve (for the time being) our existing senior center and teen center (the boys and girls club)
[list] continue researching and developing a possible proposal to build a dog park in the town.

I am surprised the backshooter wants to talk more about it after saying "case closed." |

There is trouble in Socialist Workers Paradise. I think you should be more respectful of Ms. Dufek since she got your slate elected.
With all due respect, MANY people worked to get the slate elected in 2009. Mrs. Dufek certainly did not do any more than any one else in the effort and I am too much of a gentleman to suggest that she really did not do any more than the "average" political committee person. I have always been polite and respectful to Mrs. Dufek. Whether that respect has been reciprocated is a whole other matter that I don't intend to discuss here. |

You're going to need a couple of fund raisers for repairing the vandalism at the parks too. |

The town parks fall under the town's insurance. Although -- in the case of Woestina Park -- the Challenger League paid money out of its own funds to repair the damage done to that facility by years of neglect and some vandalism. One of the ideas floated at our last meeting --- for a recreational activity open to town residents --- was trying to set up a Rotterdam Night (or some other time) at the County Ice Rink. We could use whatever constructive suggestions anyone may have. We want Rotterdam to be a fun place to live with a good community spirit. |

I do not appreciate the two of you shitting on the other hard-working volunteer members of the commission.
Funny how you changed your tune Ronnie! Now how does it feel to be crapped on by Hitler and Napoleon? |

Actually, I said "discussion closed" but you have the Supervisor and the Deputy Supervisor to thank for reopening the discussion -- and if anyone "shot anyone in the back" -- they would also be the ones to point the fingerat. |

The bottom line here is that rotterdam is now being run like a dictatorship!!! Hitler and Napoleon are backing themselves into a corner of alienation. From day one....they proposed an unpopular idea that the 'fantastic 5' not be required to answer any questions from residents at a public meeting. They have insulted residents. They have used crude remarks ('not a hair, you know where' ). They have suggested 'no more' agenda meetings. Creating havoc with a 'one location' voting place for the rems vote. Cross training without notice or reason. Changing volunteer committees for no apparent reason. And the most infamous one from FDG.........'town clerk only has to work ONE day a year'!! The next rotterdam town clerk better NOT be present in that office for more than one day a year or rotterdamians will be out with their pitchforks!! Looks like LD had friends in high places in rotterdam, huh? |

BT--come on they are certainly no worse than ST and Mertz and in many cases better. MM you happen to be right here but you did your share of crapping on people too.
DVR--LD should have been on the committee from the beginning. This move by FDG now makes you look impotent in your position. But you must have put up some roadblock for him to trump you so publicly. This smells of some back room deal where all the players weren't accounted for. |
