what is the BIG DEAL! if they expand the parks commission if it is not political then what the hell is it. Why would someone want to come and volunteer their time and energy and not have a vote .Further more why is diane marco needed on the commission when she is coordinator of parks and recreation .

DM????

I thought she was the 'senior center person'........no?

The information is available at town hall.  There is no legal statute that requires me to place the names of  private citizens who serve on the commission on this website.

BTW -- You claim to be a resident of the city so I have no obligation to answer any questions from you.

Uh, where did I say I'm a resident of the city????????     Care to provide the proof?

You never want to respond to my questions because you would prove yourself an embarrassment.

So, you oppose tax dollars to charter schools, but you support tax dollars for a PRIVATE hair do school, to a PRIVATE bakery, a PRIVATE gin mill??????   What a hypocrite.

BTW, you still havent' responded as to the time you were at city hall on Wed Jan 19 when you claim to have seen and spoke to the mayor when it's been he was in Washington.

So, as a a representative of government (paid or unpaid position) provide the dates of meetings and the names of the people on the commission.  Explain why you just say people can get the info form town hall.  Why should anyone have to go to extra lengths to get information when it is so easy for you to type the names here.

Every other board and commission in the town and anywhere else has a set number of members for purposes of determining a quorom and for determining what constitutes a majority vote of the members.
The Town Board only has 5 members -- the Planning Commission has 7members  -- the Zoning Board of Appeals has a set number, the Industrial Development Agency has a set number of members  and so does the Conservation Advisory Council.   ----

Those launching this attack on the Parks Commission  argue that anyone who wants to should be on the Parks Commission  ..... by this same logic anyone who wants to be on the Town Board should just be able to show up at meeting time and say that they are a member of the Town Board.

At least the Parks Commission has made provisions -- provisions approved of by resolution of the Town Board that allows  "ex officio" members    (this will include reps from the various sports leagues, the town board, student reps from the 2 local school districts)
NO OTHER board or commission in this town  allows Town Board members to attend its meetings AND actually sit at the table and participate in the discussion.
NO OTHER board or commission in this town includes student reps to attend its meetings AND actually sit at the table and participate in the discussion.
NO OTHER board or commission in this town actually seats the general public at the table  and allows them to openly participate in the discussion.

The fact is that the Parks and Recreation Commission is the most resident-friendly commission.    The one that is most open to allowing public input and public participation.

BTW -- The person who wrote those letters to the editor  had NEVER attendednor attempted to attend a Parks and Recreation Commission until AFTER the  letters to the editor were published.    That person NEVER volunteered a second of her time to the work of the commission.

First -- I am NOT "doughboy"  .. and will no longer respond to posts that include insulting and derogatory comments like that.

Second - Lisa Dufek did NOT contact me to say that she was unable to attend the December meeting (which bythe way was NOT the first meeting of that Commission - it had been meeting twice a month since the summer of 2009).

Third -  The decision not to recommend Lisa Dufek and 2 other residents who expressed an interest in beng appointed to the Parks Commission (but who  like Mrs. Dufek did not attend the December meeting)  was made by the WHOLE commission and not just by me --- and had absolutely nothing to do with political party membership or any other political consideration.

Fourth - Lisa Dufek was never blocked from attending ANY meeting and in fact when she attended the January meeting sat at the SAME table with everyone else and was given the same materials as everyone else AND I had even prepared for her and 2 other new participants copies of other pertinent materials.   She was able to participate in the discussions just like every other person at the table.

Finally, everything that I have said in regards to the commission has been 100% accurate.

Frankly, I am through discussing the matter as the truth has been all been laid out.  As far as I am concerned the issue is CLOSED.

First, ya you are.

Second - if you say it's "CLOSED" - it really doesn't matter a hill of beans. The discussion can and will continue, with or without you.  But I bet you can't help to respond in the future.

Perhaps I'm just missing something here.......but it still appears that there has to be more to this than someone just not being accepted to some town parks committee. To write a letter to the editor also seems to be a stretch for not being accepted on this committee.

Either LD over reacted or there's more to this story.....perhaps?
