Its hard to keep hydrant clean when your neighbors snow plow dude plows all the snow in front of the Hydrant. I've called the police and the FD . Nothing is being done . This hydrant is at the end of my driveway , I do my best to keep it clean . But I:m flat out feed up from the lack of response from the authorities . They just dont care ,so why should I. My Father always told me that after your driveway you should shovel out the nearest hydrant . I'm giving up man I 'm getting to old for this sh*t |

You're absolutely correct - but what about the handicapped, elderly? Would you want them out there to have a heart attack cleaning the hydrant out when there's perfectly capable men sitting on their collective a$$es @ each station?
Now you are making stupid comments regarding this......Who the hell would expect the elderly and handicapped people to do that. Also dont bullshit me by saying we talked 2 weeks ago ... i would not talk to a moron like yourself for a second |

Believe this was broadcast on Chan.6 News on 1/28/11 reg. hydrant clearing. It is also on their website. Search hydrants. A Facebook poll by them stated 34% did not know it was their"responsibility" to clear the snow from the hydrants. Not sure whose resp. it is from a legal, common sense etc. standpoint, depends on your point of view as a taxpayer or homeowner. Story went on to state that in volunteer Fire Districts it was the homeowners resp. but in many TAXPAYER paid FD in snowbelt communities that resp. fell to the FD. So seems to me some could lend a hand during heavy snowfalls, helps ALL of us. |

Sch’dy’s Broadway should be priority plowing street
Could someone explain to me why Broadway in Schenectady is not a priority street [for snow-plowing]? You have businesses with little or no off-street parking and people are parking out in the lanes of traffic because of the snowbanks. If a large truck comes by, forget about it! All traffic comes to a standstill until someone decides to make the fi rst move — maybe they’ll take off a mirror maybe they won’t! The front of Danceforce should be treated like a school zone; there are children going in and out of there all night long Why does someone have to get hurt (or worse) before something gets done?

Someone should tell Mr. Lamp that every practically every street in schenectady looks like Broadway. NONE are a priority! There are no snow emergencies! But the residents better shovel the sidewalk in front of their homes or they will be fined!!! |
