. At least three other owners owned the diner AFTER Bill Holden and they did well, too. .
Uh, if they did well, where are they??????????????????????????????

- if the restaurant and bakery serve good products - the folks will support it.
.
Then would you care to tell us, White Eagle bakery did not serve good products, they served GREAT products, EXCELLENT products, there stuff was on par with Villa Italia, although different products. No where has there been hard rolls like White Eagle. Their Jewish rye bread, people came from miles. When we'd go to visit familiy or friends out of the area, different states, it was "please bring a couple loaves..." I haven't had a crumb bun like theirs since they closed.
How many people will support a business when doing their, getting out of their car may result in them getting shot, propositioned, assaulted or robbed?
Hey, I know the couple wanted to retire, but they had great employees and one of their sons knew how to do stuff. But, people do not and did not want to go into a war zone

Mont Pleasant is a neighborhood worth investing in.
IF that is true, DV, then would you care to tell us when the closing date is on the house you are buying in that neighborhood? Well, YOU say it's worth investing, so WHY are you avoiding moving in there??????????????????? Come on DV, if it's SOOOOO wonderful as you say and worth investing, then how come you are avoiding buying while the prices are low??????????

Schenectady city snowplow crews are battling the clock to clean streets curb to curb before subzero temperatures set in later this week and turn slush into rock-like ice. The city has to maintain sufficient width on streets for public access and safety reasons, Olsen said.
If DV's buddy Stratton had been declaring a snow emergency regularly, then the streets would already be plowed back to the curb and they wouldn't be battling the clock....right DV???????

“It is very important we push the snow curb to curb to avoid rutting it when the temperatures get very cold,” he said. Crews have been working since 5 a.m. Tuesday to clear roads and lay down salt.
Again, if Stratton had been regularly declaring a snow emergency, the snow would already be pushed back to the curb and the city wouldn't be going through this, right? I'm interested if anyone disagrees with my statement and why disagreeing

A city ordinance requires people to clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfall. In this case, the clock started running Tuesday morning. Olsen said the city places a high priority on clearing sidewalks used by large numbers of children, such as those near schools
How about how the city has NOT cleared the sidewalks, like around veterans park downtown, by the bus stop in particular, nor on the downtown sidewalks where bus stops are. Would anyone who claims Stratton is a great leader explain how disabled people and wheelchairs are supposed to go on the CITY OWNED sidewalks and get on and off buses? Heck the city has not even shoveled where the curb cuts are!

People are still getting ticketed, however. Police can issue tickets to people who have not cleaned off their cars or moved them so that plows can come by and clear the roads.
And what cars have been towed? It would be nice if any readers on these boards--those that think Stratton is great---would explain why he did not have cars moved so that snow could be pushed back to the curb.

By the way, and I know things change, but today two of the stations I watch the news said that a storm coming next Tuesday could be the biggest yet that we've had this winter. Gee, since we have already had storms of 10 inches. Hmmm.
I wonder if those who read these boards and are Stratton supporters still believe that it is just and proper to not declare a snow emergency.
I wonder if the Stratton supporters still believe that it's better to keep having peoples tax dollars be given out in 100% tax exemptions to the millionaires downtown while at the same time failing to provide an absolutely essential service in the neighborhoods. Giving tax exemptions to the millionaires is not essential, but it IS essential, it should be of higher priority to spend tax dollars cleaning the streets to facilitate the free flow of ambulances and fire.
Well Stratton supporters? Which choice is of higher priority? 1. Giving out 100% tax exemptions to milllionaires downtown? or 2. Declareing a snow emergency at each snowstorm - AND TOWING the illegally parked cars -- thus pushing the snow back to the curb to widen the streets to provide the necessary room for an ambulance, and fire to get through.

MC1 the Mayor gives the tax breaks to those rich developers and in turn the developers give big contributions to the Mayors campaign the taxpayer doesn't even fit into the equation.

3) Mayor Stratton was at City Hall at least part of the day. I know because I saw him in the building and spoke with him.
Your comment that Stratton was at city hall and you saw him on Thursday (your post above posted on Thursday) is as "truthful" as your claim that the city streets are in fine condition.
1. The middle of the main streets are ok. But everything else, it's snow piled in the parking lanes, piles in the middle of the road, etc, EXACTLY why Carl Olson is very concerned that it will turn to rock solid ice because the city has NOT pushed snow back to the curb....I trust you DID read the news?
2. You didn't see Stratton on Thursday. He was in Washington at the conference of mayors from Wednesday

Ouch! That's shocking that DV made something up! Allegedly......
The Conference of Mayors was from Wednesday, Jan 19th until the 21st. Highly doubt that Stratton would have missed the first day of a conference he was receiving an award at....just a thought.
Mayor SOS won an award for what? Most blatant illegal contracts to ripoff State taxpayers? Shipping solid waste the greatest distance from the source wasting gas and causing green house gases? Ignoring an exploding crime and gang problem while freezing new police hires?
This had to be a bobby prize or some joke award. Even DEMS are running from this empty suit. If he runs again he'll be crushed by RH or PG.

"City crews are cleaning the snow from curb to curb", states the People's Gazetto. Where? These alleged reporters should take another look at Union Ave. Barely passable-with student cars submerged in snow banks, blocking a lane and a half. These cars should be ticketed and towed and Union Ave really cleared to the curb.
This would generate much needed revenue. Naah, these DEM morons would rather ticket granny, whose eating cheese sandwiches to pay crushing City/School taxes. for not shoveling her sidewalk to their lofty standards. As if anyone uses a sidewalk.
DVR--your need to slam small hometown businesses is very telling. You seem to have a beef with everyone who owns a business. Might I remind you and Cicero for that matter that it is the small businesses who are the ones who help out locally with events and causes. The big corporate offices don't give a crap about Schenectady/Rotterdam. If the Dems really want to help out in the city turn toward the businesses in Mt. Pleasant and help them. Stop trying to offer them deals to move out and go downtown. Revitalize Crane Street. Clean up the damn neighborhood. You have some nerve criticizing those who stay on in the neighborhood and give jobs to those who live there.
GB is right to attack your thinking. You clearly have no use for the small businessman. Not sure where you got your democratic ideals--oh right at Siena... you might have learned real values had you gone to St. Rose. And let me tell you something about Uncle Sam's--they make the best damn chocolate in the area. The owner supports local events as well and still cares about what happens to the citizens of Schenectady and Rotterdam as well as the future of our children. He stands tall in our community and has shown more dignity and grace in the face of challenges than you have been able to impart on this board. Just because his politics are not yours is no reason to continually use this board to attack. And your idea of what is local IS NOT what is selling twenty miles away. And BTW, I am probably the biggest damn liberal Democrat in the County. Yeah I'm the one they like to call a Socialist--
Cicero--so far you have thought I am Alleykat, Mrs. Beasley and now Yossi. You're a darn fool. I am NONE of those folks and have not been. Stop trying to unmask me. A detective you are not. You KNOW who I am. That's a very stupid move on your part. If you're not sure, call Gadfly, she can tell you. Keep it up and it will put you on DVR's level. Get off it. You should act smarter than this.
the small local businesses are the ones that support local base ball and soccer etc.....kind of like not for profit churches help homeless.....as far as working together and 'no communication' the only reason why there never is, is because everyone wants a piece and bragging rights......
