I will tell you the God's honest truth.  I swear on my grandparents' graves, I swear on the graves of all my deceased relatives, neighbors, friends, all the past presidents, governors, and mayors.   I did NOT contact the Gazette.  In fact, I did not contact ANY news media.

So, I'm wondering who did (if you come to this board, you don't have to say who you are if you want to be anonymous).  Or the gazette has people reading these boards (although I find it difficult to believe that one)

I never thought you did contact the gazette. I wouldn't be surprised that they do read these boards, because they took your words and ran with them! Good job!

Every news source is reading this board for lead generation. They lack boots on the ground. Expect another huge expose from something you put up here.

It's the same idea with Obama's wild spending spree, where he has caused the debt to grow to $14 trillion.  People can't fathom what $14 trillion is.  But say go a guy with a wife and two children, and he makes $25,000 a year, tell him that the debt is "equal to" $45,000 for every person in this country, explain to the couple that the debt could be wiped out if every person paid $45,000 and tell the could that they would have to pay $180,000 as their share, then people, who don't get involved in these kinds of issues, don't watch the news much, etc, they can finally grasp it

And yet some think everything is just great.

Boggles my mind...  Unless they are living the good life of either being super wealthy - or living off the fruits others taxes.

THIS JUST IN: Every sporting goods store in 20 miles is sold out of kneepads for tomorrow's Obama visit. It appears that DemocrapicVoodooRepeater has led the charge to make sure he and all his zombie democrap friends are ready and have their kneepads on well in advance. Maybe the news sources can check on that.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

3) Mayor Stratton was at City Hall at least part of the day.  I know because I saw him in the building and spoke
    with him.

And WHEN were you there?   Let's see, for a person who has no job, is posting on these boards at 3 in the morning, you probably sleep til noon, so probably in the afternoon you might claim you were there.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

Come on Mike...

We should be impressed that Mayor Stratton makes time for someone who lives outside the city....

DVOR unfortunately you have made a poor assessment.  One the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood is like a war zone at night.  Hookers and drug sellers on every corner.  Combo Fish Fish fry is continuously at the City Hall complaining.  Second Mt. Pleasant Bakery is what is holding that neighborhood together.  I am there every Friday for my Challah as is my family and most of the observant community in Albany. In fact was there early this a.m. The store is not over-flowing BUT busy enough. They have a huge wholesale business.  Six trucks delivering throughout the Capital Region.  They are the last kosher bakery in the area and they are generous to the community.   Rachel is spot on.  Diners, delis restaurants all use their bread not to mention the synagogues.  (My synagogue gets two deliveries each week) How come you don't know them?  Because you should.  I have run into your Fr. Urban in there more than once.

Each owner did so well they sold their business to the next person.  Does that even make sense?

Yes - Holden sold out after his wife died .. he lost interest in running a restaurant after her death. He prefers baking not actually running a restaurant.
One of the other owners was a former local tv anchor from Baltimore and her husband  -- and like a lot of new business people - even though it was doing well  .. they decided that they had grossly underestimated the number of hours a week it takes to run a small business -- so they sold out and moved on to something easier.
Then there was the Greek man who owned it - but he ended up getting involved with the diner near Hudson Valley Community College.
Oh -- and who could forget  Bob Alexson -- who ran into his own legal and financial issues -- that was when the diner was finally closed and remained empty for the past few years.

Our family used to do a lot of business with them.   We don't anymore.   I can't mention the names of the
bakeries that we prefer -- since the administrator gets a bit upset about that.   I hope that they do well ..
I am just saying that IMHO there products are not what they used to be.

I feel sorry for all of the businesses (the ones that are left) in Mt. Pleasant. There are good businesses there, with hard working people, but no one feels safe venturing into that area.

Why does anyone think Marcella's moved out?

Marcella moved out because they got a great deal with Metroplex.  Yossi is right about Crane Street being a war zone.  The bakery HAS contacted Karen Johnson about the situation as well as the neighborhood association. They have had several meetings with McCarthy about it as well.  They have spoken to the City Council as well. It is a serious problem.

Yossi--yup the best challah in the Capital District.    Some say better than NYC.  And DVR-just for your information, the bakery UPS's challah's each week to Florida along with their rye bread and they do the same for Customers in North and South Carolina.

The fact they had to put in long hours to run the business has to do with the huge cost to hire help in NYS and the HUGE taxes in Schenectady.  That is why you don't open a business in Schenectady.  You work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to net $40K.  Your making $9 per hour. Unless of course you are a recipient of the Mertoplex tax exemption, then it may be worth it.

His huge family spends SOOOOO much money and if he imagines in his deluded mind that someone slighted him or his family somehow once (false, anyway) he -ohhhhhh my-WON'T DO BUSINESS THERE ANYMORE!

That bakery is an institution which produces fantastic baked goods. It is known far and wide. Unfortunately the neighborhood decline and the fact that the local political machine chooses to funnel their business to their cronies elsewhere and THEN has the temerity and gaul to have this turkey-puppet make insults and post deroguetory comments is shameful. A struggling, hard working family business where you get great artisanal product with fresh ingredients using the best products to make a wonderful and fairly priced good. Paying TAXES to the school, city and county and EMPLOYING PEOPLE TOO! And the best part is that you can go there and not have to see pictures of idiot movie stars and B-list celebs on the wall, in some hot-sh!t attempt to make you feel like you are dealing with a Hollywierd boutique that has the attitude "Aren't you lucky to be here kissing our ring and letting you buy our goods?"

Hooray for Mont Pleasant Bakery and all the other small businesses under the heel of a declining city where nobody in power gives a turd because, lets face it-they didn't kiss the right a$$es.  May they outlive the cronies and crooks trying to run them down!
