The city enforcers write tickets to the overtaxed city residents and then drive home to there cul-de-sacs in Glenville

True, so true. And they drive home a City vehicle paid by the taxpayers too.

The city of Schenectady seems to be the only municipality that doesn't know how to deal with a snow storm. Memo to the Mayor you can't clear the snow from the city streets when there are parked cars all over the secondary streets.

Schenectady can't break their own laws and then have the homeowners pay for their incompetence. Pure and simple.

So true...City Democrat leadership has lost all moral authority.  The unethical behavior such as pension padding, attorney out for months on paid leave, $100K cops sleeping on the job makes it impossible for city leadership to use their authority without looking like the tyrants they are.  If this leadership isn't replaced, Schenectady will spiral further out of control.

WEll I feel sorry for Maggie's diner.  That spot is a drag.  There is no one on Crane street except derelicts walking around.  Two murders in front of Mt. Pleasant Bakery.  That bakery would pull out of there if they could so my Rabbi tells me.  Even the Blue Ribbon cheesecake man couldn't make that spot work.  It is an ill-advised move for these people.  Do they have Metroplex money?

Bill Holden did well there until his wife died.   He was great cook and baker but his wife was the brains
as far as managing the restaurant.    At least three other owners owned the diner AFTER Bill Holden and
they did well, too.

Mont Pleasant is a neighborhood worth investing in.   Lots of folks are looking forward to the new restaurant
and bakery ... and - if the restaurant and bakery serve good products - the folks will support it.

As for Mont Pleasant Bakery, it WAS a good bakery years ago.   Not so much in recent years.  Sometimes the reason that a business starts slumping is the fault of the business and not of the neighborhood.

Are you a complete idiot? Where do you think the breads for many of the local restaurants and diners come from in Schenectady...the Mt. Pleasant Bakery. For someone who starts a thread about supporting local businesses, you seem quite confident about trashing them without even going to them...and probably for years.

The Mount Pleasant Bakery is one of the only reasons ANYONE will go to that area. It's the leadership and the neighborhoods which are deteriorating and it's not the businesses fault that the area sucks. Stay in Rotterdam...

Each owner did so well they sold their business to the next person.  Does that even make sense?

Another lie. They couldn't close fast enough. Such a hot location it idle for many years? DEM public policy has destroyed Mt Pleasant like every other neighborhood in the City.

As far as Mt Pleasant Bakery no one wants to go to Crane St because of implosion "scene". Taxpayers out-low lifes in. They sell to other many retail outlets and fine restaurants. Those that want Mt Pleasant Bakeries great bagels and pastries should go to Nisky Co-op. Parking, selection, safety.

What a nightmare going through the city today.  One road blocked off due to an accident, then went to another road and got stuck in the foot deep frozen mess between cars because I had to pull to the side to let a bus through. Had to be pushed out.  Then almost got side swiped from another car spinning its tires to get off the curb.  After that, there was another accident I had to sit and wait for.  Needless to say, I was late this morning even though I left my house 20 minutes early.  Are you kidding me?  And there will be more crap piling up again tonight.  This is so wrong on so many levels.  Also I find it EXTREMELY dangerous that the kids have to walk to school in the streets because there are no sidewalks!!!  There are kids all over at that time in the morning and they have to dodge sliding cars!!

Correcting the misstatements or lies in the previous posts

1) The grant tor rebuild Erie Blvd can NOT be spent on snow plowing or anything other than rebuilding
     Erie Blvd.

2) I was driving in the city on Wednesday, January 19 .. 3 different times .. and the main roads were in
very good shape and the side roads were ok

3) Mayor Stratton was at City Hall at least part of the day.  I know because I saw him in the building and spoke
    with him.

DV., doesn't matter if he was there or not.  The mayor does NOT reply to his phone calls.  You can claim all you want that he does, that you know so personally, but the rest of us all know the truth.

See, I knew you would write that you were driving around in the city.  Sure, maybe State St is clean.  But I DEFY you to drive on the side streets.   I DEFY you to provide even one teeny weeny shred of proof - via photos - that the all cars in the city were moved and that all the streests were plowed back to the curb.  You CANNOT do that.  And I will PROVE, later this evening, WITH photos where the city has NOT towed illegally parked cars of priority streets.

And by the way, you see, we are all right, YOU are wrong.  Today's Gazette PROVES you wrong because the story where Carl Olsen is talking about the concern that I wrote about here BEFORE that Gazette story -- I was the one who said the slush will turn to solid ice and that is EXACTLY what Olsen said in today's paper.

However, Olsen failed to mention the reason why there is snow on the roads and it's because YOUR BUDDY the mayor FAILED in is duty, YOUR BUDDY FAILED to follow the rules in the city in declaring a snow emergency, and YOUR BUDDY FAILED to see to it that the cars on priority streets are ticketed AND towed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Asking the non profits for money to run a city, then asking, no forcing the residents to shovel sidewalks, with the threat of a fine, is the lowest people have ever seen in Schenectady. Yet their million dollar business buddies get off scott free without paying one cent, or next to nothing in taxes. Where does the city government get off with such nonsense??

A city that can't maintain it's streets, where crime is on the rise, where shooters are still on the loose, where people are walking way from their homes due to high taxes at an alarming rate, one of the highest taxes in the country, a totally defunct school system, an over crowded dss building where fraud prevails, weekly corruption from their police department........and they have the ba!!s to ask non profits for money???? And they threaten the depressed/suppressed residents with fines if their don't shovel their sidewalks??? BIZARRE!!!!!

And to your credit MC!....it was 'your words' that the gazette printed. And stratton and crew used the gazette to address your concerns instead of answering his phone!

I will tell you the God's honest truth.  I swear on my grandparents' graves, I swear on the graves of all my deceased relatives, neighbors, friends, all the past presidents, governors, and mayors.   I did NOT contact the Gazette.  In fact, I did not contact ANY news media.

So, I'm wondering who did (if you come to this board, you don't have to say who you are if you want to be anonymous).  Or the gazette has people reading these boards (although I find it difficult to believe that one)

But if the gazette does have someone reading these boards, I hope that person checks out the details about the tax exempt properties.  It's one thing to read "downtown properties are tax exempt."   It's another thing to read that a property is assessed at $10 million and pays no taxes whatsoever and to see the list of addresses, etc.   People need to be informed of these details but in a manner that they can related to.  It's the same idea with Obama's wild spending spree, where he has caused the debt to grow to $14 trillion.  People can't fathom what $14 trillion is.  But say go a guy with a wife and two children, and he makes $25,000 a year, tell him that the debt is "equal to" $45,000 for every person in this country, explain to the couple that the debt could be wiped out if every person paid $45,000 and tell the could that they would have to pay $180,000 as their share, then people, who don't get involved in these kinds of issues, don't watch the news much, etc, they can finally grasp it
