High hopes for new Big House Metroplex helps owner establish State Street eatery in $3 million project MIKE GOODWIN Staff Writer Section: Capital Region, Page: B1 Date: Wednesday, April 6, 2005
SCHENECTADY - Big House restaurant, the eatery and pub that eight years ago jump-started Albany's effort to bring nightlife to its downtown, is opening a new operation on Schenectady's State Street that will feature rooftop and sidewalk dining.

“It did start a renaissance in that area, and hopefully we'll be able to do the same thing in Schenectady," Waite said Tuesday.”

Metroplex paid local businessmen Dan Ertel and James Commarto $300,000 for 411 State St. and will sell the building for the same amount to the Big House.

Metroplex's Gillen said he is confident the Schenectady restaurant will succeed.
"They have a 10-year record of success in downtown Albany," Gillen said. "They drew large numbers to their Albany establishment."
ROFLMAO ! ! !
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
Mayor Stratton wouldn't be able to SPEAK to the constituent's questions unless Sharon Jordan was next to him writing out the answers. Or maybe Ed Kosiur as he was texting furiously at the Bellevue association meeting during that debate last October. Vandenburgh shouldn't waste his time on our city, it isn't newsworthy.
Schenectadians shouldn't waste their time with AM 1300 or any of its advertisers.
I know that I won't waste my time with them.

Lumpy Kosiur is popping up all over! He was also at the City Council meeting listening intently to his paisan Sidewalk Bob Sanders birch about his record City taxes. Of course, he "helped get them {moron DEMS} elected". Maybe Lumpy Kosiur will announce for Mayor? He would get a huge moron vote-for obvious reasons. Don't say things can't get worse.
You're sure giving them a lot of free advertisement in this thread. Search Google for rotterdam 1300 - This forum shows up at #7. LOL.
Maybe Mr. Vandenburgh is paying me to promote his station. Remember -- controversy can generate a lot of publicity.

Good one MC1. Perhaps the taxpayers could find out if we ever recouped the $1M the taxpayers paid for that defunct big house. And the taxpayers are still paying for that building......Paul mitchell is tax exempt.

Just spell his name right. Talk 1300 is a great local talk station with growing ratings and influence. The fact that he took on the DEM morons ruining Schenectady is another feather in his hat.
It's really hilarious to read the DEM committee people/stooges crying in the Gazetto. Maybe Mayor SOS should have Ms. Jordan pen a letter? Boo-Hoo Paul Vandenburgh is telling the truth about the Schenectady implosion under 36 years of straight DEM rule. You ain't read nuthin yet!

Oh vandenburg hits it right on the head about schenectady. And he is clearly not alone!! He gets caller after caller after call who are in agreement.......and they're not even all from schenectady. So people beyond schenectady can see through the charade.

Good question. Let's ask DV because he's in with Savage and Gillen and Stratton.
DV, answer these
1. Have the taxpayers gotten that million dollars back?
2. Have the taxpayers gotten their money back from the TWICE-bailed-out-with-taxpayer money Van Dyck?
3. Has the team of Asdorf and Todd paid the back taxes after the LOL team (lack of leaderhip team of Savage-Gillen-Stratton) rewarded them with a quarter of million dollars for a worthless hunk of stone (because Aldorf willfully and deliberately caused over a million dollars in damage)?
4. Metroplex was intended to put properties back on the tax rolls. What buildings have been put on the tax rolls under the LOL team?

Answers NO-NO-NO-NONE! And quote of the year from the worst Mayor in City history. "The Big House is a well known Capital District brand". Right. That's why it closed in Albany. That's why it never opened after taking over a million dollars from the County Taxpayers. That's why no one was fired when it went belly up.
Death Ray repeatedly lied about finishing touches and Big Hose opening dates. It never did and no one was ever held responsible for raping the County taxpayers.
Have to agree with Benny on this one. Metroplex has repeatedly ripped off the taxpayers over and over again - yet no one has been held accountable. Millions of dollars has been stolen from the taxpayers to give grants and loans which have never been repaid, yet the Metroplex lives on. No wonder the taxpayers are becoming homeless, we can't keep a failing Metroplex afloat.
