Downtown Schdy.   14 N Jay.

Must be a biggie because Fire depts in Rotterdam are there too apparently, well, I think, can't be certain, but friend of ours travelling Nott St could see it, and this is by Union.   And I heard the sirens about ten minutes ago.

It's a place owned by another infamous city resident to be proud of.  James Segrue.  I think he was a purchasing agent.  And he owned the sex club called the Toy Box on Jay.   Something tells me he might have been fired from his city job, or something.  Something rings a bell with respect to his employment in the city, I'll have to check the old newspapers

With this and the Popolizio fire, were any of them found to start suspiciously?

Also, is the City going to foot the bill for this one too? Another $50K ripped from the calloused hands of the City taxpayers.

The McClellan Fire was alleged to be suspicious. The case is proceeding as fast as the removal of the body. Who gave the order to demolish that building-that was the scene of an active arson investigation? Many questions but no answers from City Hall. That press conference was another new low. In any other jurisdiction heads would have rolled.

So was this a closed, vacant business BEFORE the fire?

And did they check for dead bodies?

Probably just an "un-updated" 3rd party site, I just thought it was ironic

Careful BT. DEM stooges get violent when you bring up not finding a body in an active arson site for 3 weeks. Everyone must look away in unison. If anyone demands answers-attack them.

Yep, I was write.  The owner of this building (as well as owning many Jay St properties) is the former purchasing agent for the city who was fired for bid fixing.

Then, he's a slumlord, had been cited many times for cockroach infestations in many of his properties - both around that part of the city and also in Mt Pleasant.

Then he was found guilty of promoting prostitution, at his sex club.

And that was the sex club that made it to the Jerry Springer show.  But, former Mayor Al successfully got rid of these places from the neighborhoods and put them in the industrial areas.

More crime downtown?   Ah, DV calls it Schenectady's miracle.

SCHENECTADY-- The destructive nature of a fire to a large downtown storage facility Tuesday night may make it difficult for fire officials to ever determine the exact cause of the blaze, according to the fire chief.

"We don't see anything suspicious," said Fire Chief Robert Farstad Thursday about the fire at Gaelic Enterprises automotive and storage facility at 14 N. Jay St. "There is no reason to go any further."

On Thursday, fire investigators met with the operator of Gaelic.

Farstad said the investigation revealed that a wood stove being used as a heating source was on when the fire erupted shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators could not determine if the stove ignited the blaze.

Besides the structure itself, the fire also destroyed about 10 cars and killed three dogs, Farstad said.
