School principal fights off intruder SCHENECTADY — The principal of Pleasant Valley Elementary School had to fight off an intruder Monday afternoon, police said. A man who was banned from the school campus came onto the property around 4 p.m. and got into a fi stfight with Principal Joseph DiCaprio, police spokesman Sgt. Luciano Savoia said. “They were physically fi ghting,” he said, adding that he did not know what started the fight. He said the man might have been picking up a child at the school. He was identifi ed as Jesus, last name unknown. As police were called, he fled in a white Jeep, Savoia said. DiCaprio has won praise for drawing in dozens of parent volunteers at his school. Last year, the PTO restarted, and many parents are now showing up for parentteacher conferences.
How did this guy even get into the school if he was banned from the campus? Aren't the doors locked and people have to get buzzed in, especially in an elementary school?

Gawd, isn't that a shame that schools in Schenectady basically need more security than the White House! At the state capitol, Cuomo is removing all these barriers to taxpayers getting in the buildings they own.
Taxpayers own the school buildings, but can't have access to them because of all the bad element in the city. Not that anyone would want to go into any of those miserable, failing schools anyway.
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
