Soon it will public unionistas and welfarites, fighting over the scraps.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Quoted from CICERO

A CEO gets paid WILLFULLY in exchange for a service provided. A private sector CEO doesn’t confiscate money through law to pay their salaries.  They usually make many many people money and creating jobs by expanding their product or services to new markets.  That is why private sector jobs wages have been remaining flat during this recession, because businesses can only pay what the market is WILLING to pay, where as State employees have the ability to confiscate money through law and taxes regardless of markets.  I'm not saying that State employees do not deserve to make a decent wage, but their union leaders need to keep them in line with those whose compensation fluctuates with the ups and downs of the markets.  Otherwise, you piss off the geese that are laying the golden eggs, the geese begin to leave the state.

I agree that union leaders need to keep things more in line with the markets, however, Philip Morris is for sure getting paid more than his public sector counterpart in the state (CEO of teeny weeny small employer Proctors vs the state as an employer).  How much does he pay his employees.  How much does the CEO of Walmart make and are Walmart employees getting paid enough to live on and then taxpayers have to provide susidies?  Have CEO's ever suffered, they continue to live like royals, and take away benefits from the employees.  GE provided health insurance to it's employees in retirement, but I think in some recent contract it was decided to eliminate that, I can't remember if it was for existing employees when they retire or only for employees hired after some date for when they retire.  For sure Imelt is living like a king while taking away benefits from the employees.

And while I certainly believe public sector gets much more, and yes, they need to be brought in line with the private sector, but, and I'm ONLY saying this for gettting a discussion going.  When public sector is brought down to what the private sector has, wont' we have a bunch of private and public sector employees getting public assistance subsidies while the CEO's continue to get their millions.

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

walmart is traded on the market is it not? hence pensions/401k etc are invested into these companies to....at the same time we want cheaper products..
walmart needs to provide a great dividend.....same thing with insurance companies---we are gambling on ourselves...so when your insurance company
refuses an expensive treatment it is also to provide a great dividend(profit) for your pension/401k etc.......

government workers should NOT have guaranteed health/pension/sick time.....they may negotiate their salaries just like everyone else...I'm not
getting a raise this year....it's the nature of the beast....

always be prepared to pull up your own bootstraps all your life....

The share holders can help control the pay and golden parachutes for the CEO's.

I was a cashier at walmart for a few short months before I decided to go back to work in nursing....it's mind numbing....really really really mind
numbing....not to mention STUPID CUSTOMERS.....there is not enough money on the planet to deal with STUPID CUSTOMERS...why?
because they are always right even if you tell them the sky is blue....

STUPID CUSTOMER: 'I bought this microwave 3 years ago and now it doesn't work. I demand a new one. '

MY CALMEST SMILE AND RESPONSE:
a. the store guarantee ran out
b. the store didn't build it
c. your recourse is via the manufacturer

STUPID CUSTOMER: "You have to give me a new one. I am the customer."

MY CALMEST SMILE AND RESPONSEunder my breath:"and I want to kill you")
I can't return that here. You dont have your receipt and I couldn't even do an even exchange because I dont know the price you paid.

STUPID CUSTOMER: "I want to see the manager."

A GREAT BIG SMILE ON MY FACE AND CALM RESPONSE:
absolutely.

I wait on about 30 other folks as the STUPID CUSTOMER continues making a scene while waiting for a manager. Yelling at incoming customers(probably
just as stupid). "they wont give me a new microwave. Mine broke. I have kids to feed."

Manager shows up and explains with nice smile and calm voice everything I already did. STUPID CUSTOMER is left to think on this and/or purchase a
new microwave and/or leave.

STUPID CUSTOMER continues to harass new STUPID CUSTOMERS(now I'm getting really annoyed).

I call the manager back to hear the tirade of STUPID CUSTOMER.....

manager brings new microwave to STUPID CUSTOMER puts it on the counter and tells STUPID CUSTOMER to leave store and not come back...

I have met a few like that. Probably one of DVOR's aunties. If they even exist.

Lets put public assistance and subsidies in perspective in comparison to the rest of the world.  Poverty in the U.S. consists of people living in 3 bedroom apartments with heat, electricity, stove, refrigerator, a television and cable, a telephone, and a cell phone.  Compared that to India where people are building their homes in garbage landfills(Slumdog Millionaire - welfare and "American poverty" is another issue for another day).  American companies pay American workers a wage that allows them to compete in the global economy. That means competing with other companies that use Indian labor at pennies on the dollar compared to U.S. labor.

Again, I don't begrudge CEO's for making their millions.  Not many people can revolutionize industries like Henry Ford, Sam Walton, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg, Meg Whitman.  These people were/are the leaders that run/ran the institutions that make America GREAT.  These people are driven and understand that if you produce a product the people want, in America you can make as much money as you want.

Now if you contrast our private sector innovative industries with our public sector, there is no comparison.  Our schools are failing no matter how much money is thrown at it, our state and federal agencies are bloated and highly inefficient, and our chambers of government on all levels is dysfunctional.

Public employees are just that, public employees.  They serve at the pleasure of the people.  And the people are sick of watching public employees get 25 holidays off, accumulating sick time, lucrative pensions, and the creme de la creme medical insurance, for being poor at what they do(generally speaking). While private sector workers are working longer hours, wages staying flat, paying more for medical insurance, and watched their retirement get cut in half in one month.

In 200 years, America went from a new concept to a world superpower because of individualism, liberty, and capitalism - not statism and unionization - that is what is breaking the backs of state governments and America.

Just look at Wisconsin as a perfect example of public employees getting twice as much in pay and benefits as the taxpayer that pays for it. The majority of the people in Wisconsin are behind their Governor as something has to be done about the massive debt.
