Chicago banned guns in their city and ever since they did that violent crimes especially murders have risen dramatically and that was what the Supreme Court used as it's basis to strike down the ban. Note to gun control advocates: criminals and nut jobs don't obey the laws only honest citizens do.

Consequences of irresponsible speech
January 13, 2011  by John de Rosier, Times Union
http://blog.timesunion.com/opinion/consequences-of-irresponsible-speech/8691/

Right wing ideology that questions the legitimacy of the U.S. government is responsible for creating a climate in which Jared Loughner could do what he did, says Jacob Weisberg in Slate. It’s not the direct cause, but it created an environment where such an act was reasonable.

Horror movies, heavy metal, violent artwork, literature that describes killing! I can't wait until we create a board of censorship for all of it! At the top of the burning heap of books and DVDs will be BoxOtyrants. Don't you love the Hitleresque left that used to be hippie flag burners and protesters. They have really become what they thought they once hated!

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

All I know is that people, are sick and tired of the liberal socialists whining and running like scared dogs with their tails between their legs every time there is a tragedy in this country. They are honestly like fish out of water when tragedy strikes.

They lack backbone, vision and strategy. They are unprepared for the worst. They need to stop whining, running and create a 'strategy' for the unknown......instead of proposing new laws that are clearly just a band aid for their ineptness. IMHO

Bumble,
Were the people who were shot in Arizona "Liberal Socialists"?
Were they "whining and running like scared dogs with their tails between their legs"?

You sound like a Glenn Beck Clone... all talk... but little facts.

Oh, do you also have a Chalk Board?
If so, maybe you could draw a chart that shows Arizona to be 5th highest (per capita) in gun deaths.
By comparison NY State is 46th.

Box, why don't you explain why DC, which has some of the nations TOUGHEST gun laws, has by FAR, the highest gun-related death rate.. 50% more than the 2nd state?

As someone who spends time in AZ, I can say that one always feels far safer there than in Sh!tnecktitty where murders and home invasions are commonplace enough that no one thinks they matter. !![/b]

Another area businessman shows his true colors ... mocking the city and county that many of his customers
live in ....  how shameful.

I'd boycott his business .. but I haven't stepped foot in the place in 5 years ... so all I can suggest is that
all the rest of Schenectady boycott his business until he apologizes or leaves town for good.

Where doesn NY rank for deaths by right wing rhetoric?   Arizona may have become 1st in the nation after this tragedy.

The modern liberal socialist don't have a clue how to handle discourse or tragedy!!  Something that has been part of American's history from day one. Like I said, they just whine and run with their tails between their legs.

People are looking for leadership who shows courage! Not a spineless leader......a strong leader with good old american backbone. One that doesn't whine and run when the going gets tough.

Leadership that uses the 'already existing laws' that are in place to protect it's people. A leader that won't cave to tragedy by pointing fingers, fault finding, fear and political rhetoric...............they just deal!

It was his first campaign stump speech for 2012.
"Civility" is the new code word for censorship.

I'd rather have someone with feelings over the heartless unfeeling witch that trampled on the freedoms of we the people that we've endured for the last 4 years when she was the Speaker of the House. The man that gave the speech last night wouldn't know the truth if he fell over it. Take away his teleprompter and he becomes a babbling boob.

civility is the language left out of schools after the 60's hippies took over and decided school should be art and you can spell cat, kat....oh and let's not
forget to not encourage a common expressive language.....

anyone remember the Helen Keller story.....she didn't have language and lacked the ability to understand and to be understood....why? no common
language....she had to be educated to express herself to be understood and until that time she was like an animal.....we dont need PC police...
we need common language....it's as if we are in Babel after the tower fell.....

so no,,,,it's not the removal of guns that is needed.....it's the push for common language and proper speech....we better get on it before the internet
removes that ability....we must master it before 'it' masters us....

...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......

The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.

Yeah....the ft hood bombing..........a muslim infiltrates the military, kills 12 and what happens? NOTHING! God forbid that the leader of the free world denounces a muslim for killing american military personnel. Did this muslim kill our military personnel because of the 'right'? Hardly not. But it WAS an american tragedy that was played down, by the whiney, cry baby, unprepared liberals and the liberal media.

But there was no hoopla like there is for this tragedy. In less than 24 hours, the left scurried, finding something or someone  to place blame. And why? Because they are failing and falling fast. They got their a$$es kicked in the last election. And the liberal socialists are trying to punish the american people for their decision to throw them out last November!! Bunch of spineless babies!!

Shameful!

The First Amendment
On the second day of the 112th Congress (January 6, 2011), Congresswoman Giffords read aloud on the House floor the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
