like in -- you partly spelled statistician correctly ?????
if you partly spell a word correctly -- it is still spelled incorrectly
Well,,,if you or I were a reporter writing an article about my spelling error, I wouldn’t write that I partly spelled a word incorrectly. I would say I wholly spelled a word incorrectly.
Unless of course you mean that even though I spelled this word incorrectly, since I post less words per post compared to other forum members, my spelling mistake is an anomaly because the number of words I post. So this really isn't a spelling error at all, just an anomaly, relatively speaking.
If I write 1000 words and make 99 spelling errors and you write 10,000 words and make 1000 spelling errors - who is better at spelling?
Shouldn't it be the same about this so-called anomaly? It either is or isn't. One thing we both can agree on, it can't be partly. The fact Kathleen put "partly,” tells me it's not an anomaly at all. It's a statistical fact. Schenectady is crime ridden proportionately at a greater rate than the Bronx.
Just wondering... is it an actual fact that Albany is number 4, or is that another anomaly?
...and at the same time, if it's only a partial anomoly, then that means there's a whole bunch of truth behind it, but why let the facts get in the way of a renaissance?
The other problem with the study is that the numbers cited are "residents who are in prison" ---- therefore we don't know whether the crimes that they committed were IN the same county that the person resided in. It could be -- that some Schenectady residents took the bus to the Bronx and committed crimes down there.
Also -- the "in prison" part implies that they were arrested, successfully prosecuted and then sentenced to do prison time. Thus - the study does not indicate how many crimes remained unsolved ... nor how many persons arrested were not convicted .. nor how many persons arrested were convicted but not sentenced to do prison time.
Finally- the study does not take into consideration how many crimes one individual may have committed to end up in prison. A resident from the Bronx could have committed 100 crimes and a resident from Schenectady 1 crime -- and both count equally as one person in prison.

Only DV is brainwashed enough to spin this as "good news."
"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

Never said it was good news -- said that the study is flawed and thus the conclusion is wrong.

So, if you take this into consideration also, with all the shootings that have not been solved downtown, both on the Metroplex mile and throughout the rest of the city, the numbers would actually push Schenectady even farther into the lead. Maybe that's the anomoly. They're ONLY counting the people that were caught, not actually the ones that perpetrated the crimes. I wonder what these numbers would look like if they included unsolved crimes. I don't think anybody down in the city or at the county level would like to see these numbers, or have them become public.

But doesn't EVERY COUNTY deal with the same statistical anomalies? Wasn't there just a crime in Albany committed by a Bronx resident?
The problem isn't with the study - it's with you. You don't like the results. Reality sucks doesn't it.

We're Number One! We're Number One! No not just in national taxes per capita, school taxes with no results, new welfare cases and unemployment, now under the enlightened "leadership" of the DEM working together crew---we have the highest percentage of inmates per capita in the State. More taxes, more criminals and no jobs. The problem is not that we have too many criminals-it's that the population is too low? Huh?
Release the lead balloons. And more evidence that DVR is whistling Dixie; "We're dealing with lots and lots of violent crime" stated DA Carney. Expect our lead in this to grow in coming years.

The FACT is that there are problems with the study. I have lucidly and logically laid out the problems. The problems prove that the study is faulty and that the conclusion (saying that Schenectady is the county with the most crimes is unproven).
The reality is that YOU and your ilk do not understand Statistics and -- what is more true - that you and your ilk would disagree with me if I said that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. You don't think -- you just oppose anything that I post or any one you don't like posts.

Ya wanna know how bad things are in the city? I was just talking to someone today who called to inquire about section 8......there is a FIVE YEAR waiting period!!!!!! The guy was told that there are 15,000 people on the list!! So where and how are these 15K people surviving now?
And people wonder why the 'bad element' is oozing into the surrounding towns. The city is busting at the seams with crime, high taxes, slum lords, deteriorating buildings, drug dealers, prostitutes and a failing school district.
Ya don't need trumped up stats from a cheerleading newspaper to prove otherwise. Listen.....there is NO LEADERSHIP in the city. People have to start being their own leaders and take their city back. And the towns people better get involved with city government as well........cause it's coming to a town near YOU!!!

Carnival Bob has some nerve making such comments...he is the biggest reason for these rising crime rates, IMO...too many watered down plea deals and too much leniency...while he brags about his "100% conviction rate"...gimme a break...typical liberal.
ahhh Bob's rhetoric just got a hole punched into it....
