I have read the newspaper articles over the years about his history of not paying taxes but to go from that to murder is hard to imagine.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the man who died.
My prayers are also going to be said for Popolizio. He will be needing them in the months and years to come.

Well I am skeptical anyone will be charged with murder.
But one would think that SOMEONE will be charged with some sort of manslaughter here.
Most likely the tenant that caused the fire... But if escape routes were not available or the apartment did not have smoke detectors, then the owner might be charged. (clearly I'm just speculating here though)
This is Schenectady if the owner had violations because the apartment wasn't up to code he'll get a fine to go along with the taxes that he doesn't pay.

The city should have a list of residents. Right on all the rental certificates for that building that I am sure are on file as per city law. Yeah, ummm ok.

Now after 21 days, the City takes action on a location on Erie & McClellan? What - did Golub get upset because Price Chopper is across the street?
How did the City decide to spend $50K taxpayer money for demolition when the other half of the City is just as dangerous? This whole fiasco just doesn't make sense. The poor planning and the knee-jerk actions of the City are disastrous. Schenectady is quickly becoming the black eye of the Northeast and no matter what is built downtown, people still avoid the City like the plague.

The other half of the city is not anywhere near as structurally unsound. (As this structure likely is)
Price Chopper has 119 locations and I'm a bit skeptical that just because one of them is pretty close, that they would pressure the city to take it down. That area is hardly Niskayuna or Glenville in terms of the quality of the housing / facades.

I believe the city went to take action quickly because the dangers to pedestrians of the building falling. Yes, there are many abandoned buildings, not just MP and the Hill, but all over the city, but they are not in danger of just collapsing. And of course, we know that the tax dollars just have to be doled out to the millionaires downtown so there is no money to address the neighborhoods. The Savage/Gillen/Strattoon team use the city residents and taxpayers for just one thing --- money for the milionairess downtown.
This incident should be a wake up call for the taxpayers in the city. Unforutnately, I'll be the S-G-S "leadership" team will probably make sure this is hush-hushed in the news media, what I mean is there was the story first about the demolition and it casually mentioned Popolizio owes $30,000 on THIS building. How come the news didn't report how much he collectively owes on ALL his buildings? How come the news mediea didn't report about his classy restaurant in Glenville or his Drome Sound business? How come the news media didn't report on how Popolizio gets out of debt so easily, like the last minute for Drome Sound?
There's lots of connecting the dots that can be made within the Popolizio world and then connect the dots some more and you have Alsdorf who DV's Savage girlfriend gave a quarter million dollars of taxpayer dollars. Popolizio was the founder and president of the "Schenectady Slumlords & Tax Delinquents Association," more well known as the Schenectady Rental Property Owner's Association. Guess who was the second president? None other than the other big time tax delinquent slumlord - Craig Alsdorf!
Do we smell a rat in the team of Savage-Gillen-Stratton ???? HELL YES !!!!!!!!!

Frank Popolizio and DV have something in common, they are both absentee landlords. Well, DV claims to own property "somewhere" but normal people, when they talk about issues where they live, especially issues on the financial side, will normally say "back some years ago I lived in such and such and our council there did...." and if they currently own property elsewhere NORMAL people will speak about these other places in that same way. DV never uses comparisons of other places. And in Schenectady, his siblings have never even paid property taxes!

Channel 6 apparently interviewed Poplizio who said he believed the deceased was his tenant.
Wonder why Ch 6 didn't ask him about his being tax delinquent and why FP exepcts the taxpayers to foot the bill for the demolition
