this is month old news! And what does this have to do with Farley's racism statement? Or perhaps it's just a diversion from the original starting post........perhaps? |

As noted in the piece that I posted from WNYT's website --- City of Saratoga Springs is being hit with an 8.5% tax increase ... cuts in service ....
and they have racist college punks beating up innocent people who are just trying to eat a meal ...
and the Nattering Nayboobs of Negativity think that is OK
Schenectady should be a shinning example to Saratoga! And shame on that farley for being racist! |

Dv, for the 2009 Total Overall Full Value Property Tax Rates Per $1,000 (Average Market Value) the City of Saratoga Springs begins at $18 per $1,000. The City of Schenectady is almost off the chart at $42 per $1,000.
Even with a tax increase, Saratoga will never catch up with the outrageous taxes Schenectady homeowners endure. Saratoga has better schools, safer neighborhoods and again THE POLICE ACTUALLY CATCH CRIMINALS in Saratoga.
Ding, ding, ding...I believe we have a winner (BTW, CNNMoney.com rated Saratoga one of the best places to live in 2008...don't believe Schenectady has EVER been on that list?!). |

I started the post -- and my point all along was that Saratoga is NOT without its problems. As for Farley, if he spent as much time working to help Schenectady as he does shilling for the big money donors from Saratoga -- then maybe he would be earning the big bucks we taxpayers pay him to represent us. |

County property taxes may have stayed the same in Saratoga Springs --- but CITY property taxes went up over 8%.

It's still not even CLOSE to the taxes which are being paid in Schenectady....and SCHENECTADY TAXES ARE GOING UP TOO!!!! Saratoga $18 per $1,000 and Schenectady $43 per $1,000. A no brainer there.
Again, Saratoga downtown has retail plus restaurants..and they pay taxes. No Metroplex to rape the taxpayers.
Saratoga schools are academically sound...really don't think we can even compare City schools.
Oh yeah, and when a hate crime happens in Saratoga, the police actually CATCH THE CRIMINALS!! |

Some of us will, in short enough time. However, this is where Smell-boy really F'ed up. Let us begin dissecting his d1ckhead bullshit piece by piece. He claims that Senator Farley said we should emulate some so-called "racist ways of Saratoga." Well, folks, I went to the debate where Farley was speaking to the question of fiscal solvency (AS A COUNTY) and he suggested that Schenectady county be more like Saratoga county. Only a moronic, and dumbed down failure at life in general (and I am being charitable) like Pigpen (aka Stink Man, aka Smell Boy) would suggest that Schenectady County is in better straights than conservatively run Saratoga County Secondly, Dirty-Shorts says that there was a so-called racist "hate crime" perpetrated by SARATOGA COUNTY residents. Sadly enough, Stenchorama is so full of demoCRAP-socialist bull$hite that he thinks he can pull off THIS Hail-Mary. Sadly, he is caught with his racing-striped shorts down AGAIN because these thugs were black kids on the SKIDMORE BASKETBALL TEAM WHO ARE FROM THE BRONX who were trying to abuse a black guy and white guy (apparently there was even some assault) because they were socializing together! THEY ARE NOT SARATOGA RESIDENTS! THEY ARE BLACK RACISTS FROM NYC (a liberal democrap bastion!) who were picked up by SARATOGA COPS! So no matter what the local democrap- liberal- copservative union thugs WANT you to espouse to build up the local PBA/Chief power dynamic, and no matter what the democrap committee propaganda squad DEMANDS you to lie about- Sh1tpants... YOU ARE LYING AGAIN! AND WE ALL KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| "While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat." |

If you are such a cheerleader for the renaissance and the miracle Schenectady has become, why aren't you living here? Why aren't you paying the taxes I do? Why aren't you living in a City with level 2 & 3 child molesters living near every single City school? Why aren't you living in a City with a tax base of $43 per $1,000? Why aren't you standing in lines when your home assessment is way off base? Why don't you live in the City where a "For Sale" sign is in EVERY SINGLE NEIGHBORHOOD! All I'm saying DV is that I understand your support for a better Schenectady, but currently, it's simply not happening. Metroplex has perverted its mission and has sold out the City. Our tax base has been demolished from businesses which are totally exempt for decades and the City is trying to find the loss of funds in the common homeowner. You can't tax exempt million dollar buidings and think the many slumlords of MP and the Hill are going to pick up the slack? Ultimately, Schenectady needs an end to the corruption. An end to the businesses sucking the life out of the City for their own personal gains. Schenectady needs a leader who will not make secret deals which will bankrupt the budget. Schenectady needs leaders which don't just vote for their party, they need to vote for the best interest of the people who elected them. Schenectady needs change because if it doesn't, we're going to see the lights turn off in the electric city. |

Well said Rachel. I would have liked to spend the rest of my life in this area, but Metroplex, while it having a very difficult job to do, is such a failure in my mind that it is having the opposite effect of what it was intended. (Although as stated earlier, I do like some of the improvements made downtown - they are just being done at a massive expense to the taxpayers... And all that investment is not driving more and more companies to move into the area on their own.) |

My family has lived in Rotterdam for over 100 years - my mother's father's side owned a farm near county line road for years and also owned a grocery store in the city - my mother's mother's used to own a farm on Engine Hill (now Mont Pleasant - when most of that area was still in the town of Rotterdam) before they bought a farm up in Saratoga County -- they also ran a business in the city selling products from their farm directly to people in the city. I lived in the city while growing up - my parents first lived on Hamilton Hill, then over on Avenue A (a few doors down from Mayor Duci) before moving to Mont Pleasant and finally Bellevue. I am not adverse to living in the city but I have my resources invested in income producing properties elsewhere. Maybe if the the right property came up for sale - I would sell the other properties and buy a house in the city. Personally, I would prefer a property in the Stockade .. not interested in the GE plot. I notice that the old Yates House is up for sale .. but I prefer a traditional town house. The other alternative would be to build a new townhouse in the city. But quite honestly, I am reaching the age where a year round warm weather location would suit me best.

The location where you own these investment properties... Is it an area experiencing growth? (E.g, like in South Carolina, or Atlanta, or even Malta?) I ask because a number of years ago I had considered buying a property in the city for investment. At this point with the glut of housing and tax situation, I'm very glad I did not. But in other areas I might consider it... There's a trend going on for people to rent as opposed to buy... With uncertainty in the economy even wealthy people like the idea of being able to leave an area without having to worry about taking a massive hit on their house. |
