There is a paid dietician on staff at Glendale Nursing Home ... not sure how the grant is being doled out.

For the record,   I want to add that my experience with PUBLIC nursing homes has been more favorable
than my experience with privately run nursing homes.     My Dad was in the Albany County Nursing Home and
got great care.   I have had experiences with family relatives and friends in public nursing homes in
Fulton County and in Saratoga County -- all generally good experiences.    My Mom and some other family relatives were in private nursing homes and got mediocre to poor care.  

Is there a registered taxpaid dietician/nutritionalist at the county health department?

SCHENECTADY COUNTY
County to expand public health programs with grants
BY MICHAEL LAMENDOLA Gazette Reporter

Schenectady County will expand public health programming next year after receiving grants totaling $279,000 from the state and the federal government.
The county will use the grants to launch programs to:
Reduce the incidences of diabetes mellitus in the West Indian Guyanese population in the county;
Increase awareness of calorie labeling in restaurants among women between the ages of 25 and 44 with children;
    Reduce sodium in meals served in restaurants frequented by senior citizens and in meals prepared for distribution at local senior meal sites and by Meals on Wheels.
    County Manager Kathleen Rooney said the grants “make it possible to expand our health programming and to provide benefi cial services to residents of our community.”
    Dr. David S. Pratt, commissioner of public health for Schenectady County, said the county received $200,000 from the state Department of Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for the program to combat diabetes; $120,000 from the CDC and the state for the sodium reduction program; and $20,000 from the state for the calorie labeling awareness program. What a joke. The infrastructure in this city is falling down around their ears and the government is worried about our diets. If they don't lower taxes there's going to be a lot more people on welfare as well as the people leaving the state.

This DEM idiots are worried about salt intake and calories for 25-44 year old women only? The rest of the population can all go to hell. But make sure you are current on your record property taxes and County taxes that are actually going up again. Despite what Landslide Savage and DVR kept saying. The City is in free fall. It can't pay for basic fire and police protection. It has the worst Mayor in history.  But great trails and calorie info!

     Maybe the County Manager and Health Commis should start worrying about where to site the new County home THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN BONDED. Hopefully someone got a picture of the County Manager. She's been hiding for so long she should be on the milk cartons.

Take your multi-modal trails and roll a salt shaker down them. Followed by a taxpayer wearing a barrel. You are fooling no one.

      Prosperous downtown? Enjoy a lunch at Kabul Nights followed by shopping at Gillen's Gultch. Where Robinson's once stood and "planner" Death Ray repeatedly promised a "retail mecca".

This is ridiculous.  You cannot regulate sodium contnet in public places.  Where it needs monitoring is in the home-delivered meals for seniors and in the congregate meal sites.  That is wayyy to much government involvement.
