Figures, typical demorat, no ethics, just thinks he can spend the taxpayer money anyway he wants and get what he wants.

Pataki wasn't the best, but we thought the sheriff of Wall St would be better.  And look at what happened to all the common folks thanks to Wall St.  And the disgraced gov.  So, we got Patterson who, after he came in, we thought things would improve.  And look what happened.  And he is a criminal too.  And now.  Hmmm

He didn't know that hogging free World Series tickets was a problem? Then he misled State investigators and made contradictory statements that made no sense.

Who does he sound like? Right the same DEM "leader" that answered the phone in then Senator Patterson's office for years. Great experience for running a City into the ground.

I remember when two cousins of my maternal grandmother were involved in politics in Michigan -- one
was a member of the Detroit City Council and the other of the Michigan State Senate --  some of the perks
of holding those offices were use of box seats at Tiger Stadium and tickets to the Red Wings and Pistons
games.
I got to attend a number of games of all three teams ... once they were able to get tickets to a University of
Michigan versus Ohio State Game in Ann Arbor.     Oh and the free tickets to many events at Cobo Hall.

As far as I am concerned, I have no problem with the Governor getting free tickets to those games ... he
represents the whole state.

This is a non-issue.

Did this involve using taxpayer's money?

As far as I know, no tax money was involved.   The Yankees had provided the tickets for the Governor
and his entourage.

Technically, an elected official can not receive a gift of more than $75 from anyone --- then you get into
having to register as a lobbyist.

I remember one year - about 10 years ago - when then Assemblyman Tonko spoke at our annual parish
brunch - our tradition was to give one of the 2 floral pieces on the head table to the speaker  (the other
floral piece went to the Sisters for their chapel).    The day after the brunch, we got a call from the state
asking us to fax a copy of the receipt to prove that the floral piece we gave Mr. Tonko had not cost more
than $75.   Of course, it had not cost more than $75 and we had given it to him to take to his mother ...
but still it goes to show how idiotic the interpretation of state lobbying laws has become.

Obviously DV has a problem with ethics in govt.  Perhaps you need to read the Public Officers Law.  Perhaps you need to be enlightened that MILLIONS of tax dollars were given to the Yankees for their new stadium despite their untold wealth.

The Governor of the State of New York should have box seats reserved at all pro sports venues in the
state.  They have a reserved box for the Governor at the Saratoga flat track.   It is only fitting that the
chief executive of the state should be able to promote state sports .. by being able to attend these
sporting events.

You have proven your TOTAL IGNORANCE of government.     When taxpayers pay MILLIONS to a private business and that private business pays back the favor to the politically connected, that IS A VIOLATION OF ETHICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that, DV, is called CORRUPTION.

I particularly liked the box reserved for the Mayor and members of the City Council at Tiger Stadium.
Nothing like watching a great game of baseball ... with great seats .. and great company.
Mayor Coleman Young was a cool guy  .... and Carl Levin (now the senator from Michigan) was always a
lot of fun to hang out with,

Why do you favor violations of ethics?  Why do you support political corruption?

The thing is ... despite the fact that Detroit was such a large city and the politicians were such a diverse
group  politically and otherwise ... they managed to get along with each other socially.   They could have
spirited and fiery debates in the council chamber but then hang out together and have fun.
They also knew when to come together for the good of the community  --- something that the politicians in
Schenectady  (particularly those on the "other side" rarely do).    There is a time for politics and a there is
a time to lay politics aside and do what is best for the community.
