What WILL be a disaster is if the morans of schenectady, vote these clowns in again!!

If the goal becomes placating party power brokers, you might as well not even bother running in my book, because the party power brokers only care about the electorate secondarily - it's about preserving and protecting their own power first.
I agree with you 100%. What attracts me to candidates like Brian and the NNTP candidates is the idea they aren't getting involved for the short-term political or personal gain. They understand that it is an uphill battle, and that getting the message out and being the beacon for those of us that can see the forest through the trees is the formula for making any real change. These campaigns are information campaigns, opening eyes of the casual observer and letting them know political alliances and who the decision makers are that run our town and county government and what the average resident needs to do to produce real changes. The Republican Party does an awful job of informing the pubic of an alternative. If these NNTP candidates didn't win a seat this year, I would contribute my money again and again for future elections.
The current political structure in NYS and Schenectady County wasn't built in one election; I am not so naive to think even if Brian wins it will have a huge impact. Over time though, with the continued failure year in year out of Democrat and Republican leadership, the NNTP people will become a formidable group of people that will earn a seat at the table in local and county government.
I don't think McGarry has a snowballs chance in you know where to get elected .. but if he did he would be a disaster.
Why? Because he would be honest and cut deficit spending and say "no" to your bullsh!t? Typical despotic creep. Some day there will be trials for people like you. I can't wait for TRUE criminal justice for the tyrants. It's coming so hold on. Don't vaporlock yet!

You must surely be buchanan! You sure have enough to say about the rep party.
That was only a response to someone else's post..there are obviously plenty of people with plenty to say about the Republican Party...and you know I'm not Buchanan so stop teasing poor Boomer.
You're right as least as far as I was concerned. But civility is a huge part of being able to actually make that possible. I made a deliberate effort to avoid the negative nonsense when I ran. Frankly, the National Tea Party scares the heck out of me. In large part, they have embraced the very disrespectful rhetoric that already dominated the major parties. Voters need to demand better civility from their elected hopefuls if they ever expect to see the solutions they supposedly clamor for. It has nothing to do with free speech - it's about expecting basic human decency from grown adults.
THAT.......is what Michael has to offer.....and what he has done just from his time in politics......
...you are a product of your environment, your environment is a product of your priorities, your priorities are a product of you......
The replacement of morality and conscience with law produces a deadly paradox.
STOP BEING GOOD DEMOCRATS---STOP BEING GOOD REPUBLICANS--START BEING GOOD AMERICANS
What? They will set out to be spoilers? That's ludicrous! Damn straight they want their own way - but that way isn't really theirs - it's ours. As voters, we keep complaining about what we get (from either party) and then when someone comes along to provide us another choice they're spoilers?
"Working with the GOP" is necessary why? Because the reality is two major parties have dominated the political scene for a while so we have to fit in to one of them? I've been a registered Republican for my entire voting life but let's face it, the Republicans are as bad as the Democrats in different ways.
I sure hope the no new tax group doesn't want to "work with the GOP" because the GOP is still broken - if you're going to do the hard work to create an independent line then stay independent. You think you have appeal to a major party base? Then run in a contested primary and let the voter decide. If the goal becomes placating party power brokers, you might as well not even bother running in my book, because the party power brokers only care about the electorate secondarily - it's about preserving and protecting their own power first.
and THAT.....is also what Michael has given.....

If they want their own way and don't want to compromise then they should stick to their own group and ballot name...but they are not doing that because they understand there is no way they will win without a major Party line...that's why they are talking with the "power brokers"...there is no way around them...you can only either work with them or simply abandon them...but you can't have it both ways...and if you're not running to win, why bother at all?
Michael....I love the way you think as I'm sure many do...but it is unrealistic...and despite many good intentions, you will never implement your visions if you don't win the seat at the table necessary to advance those intentions.

Why would you be afraid of an unorganized group of American citizens who are frustrated by 70 years of bad government, deficit spending, and loss of liberty? I am much more afraid of a central government with a standing army, a national police agency coordinating with state and local police agencies, all politicized and in lockstep with the State, fully armed with weapons of war aimed right at the heads of the American people I am more concerned that that government controls healthcare, education, commerce, and has absolute and total control over a pliable and willing press- their accomplice in tyranny. Government has become a dangerous and monolithic beast, centrally commanded by an unelected bureaucracy headquartered in Washington and New York, ruling over the people.
There is nothing to fear from the people. The people aren't mad ENOUGH yet.
Don't you see the essential dynamic that whatever power the PEOPLE do not hold, the OPPRESSION OF A GOVERNMENT BUREAUCRACY will? Any talk of "civility" is an attempt to force those who have divergent views to cede the debate to the statists and the bureaucracy and to surrender on all fronts without a trace of disagreement with the consolidation of central power ever again. The whole idea is as repugnant as a dictatorship. I want my representatives to STAND UP to tyranny, not glad hand it.

That is the very definition of insanity-doing the same thing and expecting different results. Although it's hard to avoid when a fiscally incompetent DEM is on every row of the ballot.
Bring in the NNTP-COUNTYWIDE! Change you can believe in.
The NNTP, Salami, is not change you can believe in. They are too changeable, fickle, they change directions, leadership more often than they change their shorts. Snap out of it! People are beginning to look at them through the lens of the Tea Party--big mistake.

First, you're way of thinking, is embedded in the failed two party system. I'm sure you agree that the present two party system is all but impotent and change is essential at all levels of government.
Second, what 'compromise' is required when a conservative minded hopeful goes to a 'conservative minded political party' (rep) for an endorsement? Why is that so strange? Hell, didn't the rotterdam reps actually endorse a long time dem? What was the compromise there?
Basically, BM seeked the rotterdam reps endorsement (he is a registered rep and staunch conservative), bringing with him, his own fundraising and a guaranteed 2nd line...nntp line! So the rotterdam reps have a chance to endorse an electable candidate at no cost and no work on their party.
It appears that the major parties all do the same thing.....they discourage independent candidates who are 'out of the loop' and who may change the shift of the present and antiquated old status quo. This is typical political behavior for the liberal socialists. Are you saying that the reps are following suit?
From what I hear, BM made a decision early on to run for rotterdam supervisor with or without any major party endorsement. Most non-political folks look at that as an admirable attribute.

Tea Party is a title that has been given to describe a sentiment held by the people, it is not a mass movement at the direction of leaders. People still think the Tea Party is the masses reaction in response to leaders, when it is actually leaders responding to public sentiment.
Taxes are too high, government has taken away too many liberties, and we have a national debt of $13 TRILLION. There may be a campaign being waged by the political class to dirty the meaning of Tea Party, but it won't change the limited constitutional government beliefs held by those who identify themselves as Tea Party.
If the Tea Party organizations want to play by the same rules the political class is playing by, they should begin to move away from the "Tea Party" label and label themselves as "Constitutionalists". Just like they do with the word game when naming legislation, they continue to change the names until it is palatable to the people.
You can't hit a moving target. (oooops...am I allowed to say target?)
