I thought the $19 million being spent on Erie Boulevard traffic circles is the "Gateway to Schenectady." Seems like Metroplex is concerned with depleating the tax base, ignoring the terrible state the neighborhoods are in and forcing all homeowners out of the county.

A City left with slumlords and tax-exempt businesses? Bankruptcy seems eminent.

The neighborhoods are in terrible BECAUSE of Metrograft. When you relocate Marcella's {DEM business of the year!} from Crane St to lower Broadway-Crane St implodes. This is official DEM policy. People that went to Marcella's and then the bakery or pizza joint aren't around anymore. Everyone suffers-jobs are lost.  Revenue implodes because of tax giveaways. Remaining property owners can't sell because of the high taxes, horrible schools and flooded for sale market. Forget about bankruptcy-that should have happened years ago.

That first block of State Street -- where the old YMCA building -- is a great place for Metroplex to invest
in a redevelopment project.  That is the gateway to the city.

I am looking forward to seeing what specific plans Metroplex comes up with for that block.

Once agaiin DV, participate in intelligent discussion.  What Savage/Gillen projects have resulted in the properties going back on the tax rolls and paying more property and school taxes than before???????

Proior to Savage/Gillen, many of these properties paid SOME taxes.  DV, is the Savage/Gillen view of Metroplex to increase the tax roll of downtown proeprties or decrease it?

DV, please explain why the Savage/Gillen Metroplex projects has had the result of plex projects being wholly exempt from any property and school taxes and having the homeowners pay SUBSTANTIALLY HIGHER taxes in order to cover the lost taxes.

Please participate in an intelliegent discussion based on facts instead of a wild imagination.  Can you do that?

I am hoping that the only area around Liberty Square (which is actually a triangle)
becomes the focal point for economic redevelopment -- the old Y building is just one piece of a larger
revitalization that could be done.

DV...

Not to pile on here, but seriously what you're saying...

Is that Ray Gillen, the one who said "Slow news day, huh?" when CBS news questioned them on the Big House fiasco...

Should just be trusted to keep spending money how he sees fit?

The Y thing is another fiasco.  Trust me on this one.

I don't know you personally -- so i have nothing to base a decision to trust or distrust you on.  As for the
redevelopment of Lower State Street and in particular the Liberty Square area ...  I believe it is necessary
and long overdue ..  and I await more details on the Y plan.   But at this point SOME plan is better than
NO PLAN.

And AGAIN DV......what properties involved in the Savage/Gillen Metroplex projects have resulted in more taxes being paid by the properties than before the re-do?????

Why do you consistently REFUSE to answer that question??????????????    Why do you totally ignore any and all comments about the lower income people paying the taxes for the millionaires??????    Why do you ignore it as though it's perfectly acceeptable to tax the poor to pay for the rich.   Is that Catholic teaching?

The revitalization of Lower State Street and the Erie Blvd corridor  will have great benefits to the city and
the county.
Can't forget to plug the need for a new combination train and bus station on Erie Blvd.

MT can't help that fact that he-she is ignorant ... so he-she has to resort to name-calling.

Those guys with the feathered caps are now some kind of arbiter of what is said on blogs? Huh?

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."
