The Commiss is doing a great job reforming the police? This is the second violent robbery at Cornell's in the past few months. The other occurred at closing and the perps have not been arrested. Kinda like the Bombers?

Cornell's is just a few short blocks from the Schenectady Police Department.  If the police can't stop crime from occurring
in their own backyard, what hope is there for the neighborhoods that are in the outlying areas of the city?

Gee, DV has been on these boards since the story was posted.

Isn't it convenient that he doesn't respond about this story....must be rather embarrassing to admit that crime is going up.

Two robberies at gunpoint in broad daylight within 48 hours.

Hey DV, is that your definition of Schenectady's renaissance?   God DV, just think, parents could have been on their way home from work, picked kids up at day care, and decide to go to KFC for dinner.  Children, DV, CHILDREN could have been in KFC at that time, DV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!    This is not some back alley shooting at 2 a.m!!!!!

The restaurant has great food, but the area creeps me out.

Second stickup angers restaurateur
By PAUL GRONDAHL Staff Writer
Published: 11:53 a.m., Sunday, December 5, 2010

SCHENECTADY -- Both her son and daughter have had shotguns aimed at their heads during terrifying armed robberies at Cornell's restaurant that bore similar scenarios. And after an early morning holdup on Sunday, owner JoAnn Aragosa expressed anger at what she deemed a weak police response previously.

"I'm really angry because I don't feel anything was done the first time, and now it's happened again, in broad daylight," she said. She offered a $5,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest in the Sunday robbery.

Aragosa's voice was shook with rage as she spoke outside the restaurant at 39 N. Jay St. an hour after two men brandished a sawed-off, double-barreled shotgun in the face of her son, Jim Cognetta, shortly after he entered the restaurant at about 10:30 a.m. to prepare for a Sunday dinner shift.

The restaurant was not open at the time, but Cognetta and a cleaning woman had just arrived, Aragosa said. Two men wearing black hoodie sweatshirts, one with a red mask and the other with a white bandana pulled up over his face, entered the restaurant's unlocked back door and ordered Cognetta into the office and told him to open the safe, his mother said.

After twice failing to get the combination correct, one of the robbers hit him twice on the head with the shotgun, put the barrel in his face and told him "you better get it open this time," according to his mother.

Her son got the safe open and the robbers fled with thousands of dollars. "It was the whole weekend's receipts. They wiped out the safe, every bit of cash," Aragosa said.

Witnesses said the robbers made their getaway in an older-model tan Lexus, police said. Investigators are looking at tapes from surveillance cameras in the area, police said...............>>>>............................>>>>....................http://www.timesunion.com/local/article/Second-stickup-angers-restaurateur-861826.php

Why, after this has happened more than once, with no signs of improvement, would a business WANT to stay downtown.  It's sad really.

It is Sue Savage's MIRACLE. Her little miracle on the mohawk.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

What do you mean no sign of improvement? Mayor SOS/The Commis installed cameras! There is no cop on the beat. There is no community policing. Despite the total failure of security cameras that remains the only answer from the DEMS in City Hall.

Cornell's is a great restaurant that should have never left Van Vranken Ave-and when they left they should have gone to either Nisky or Rotterdam. They made a terrible mistake listening to Death Ray. Nothing will improve Downtown until the crime/gang problem is tackled. All the pretty facades {without new jobs} in the world will not lead to "renaissance" without public safety.

Wow, over 24 hours and DV is still totally speechless about armed robberies in broad daylight downtown - that's what he calls a renaissance.

Like I said, these did not happen in some back alley at 2 a.m. when few people would be out and about.

This and the one LESS THAN 48 HOURS EARLIER---BOTH in Schenectady's so called miracle of downtown - happened IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.

Let's see, DV, is angry over the story about the owners being angry

Not a word spoken by County Legislature Chair Savage, City Mayor Stratton, Public Safety Commissioner Bennett
or Schenectady Police Chief Staires concerning the rampant criminal activity in the city and county.

It's time for residents to begin work to dissolve the County Legislature, replace Stratton, disband the Schenectady
City Police Department, and bring in the New York State Police.  It's time to take back the streets for law-abiding
citizens.

You can't, it is a miracle and that would be going against God.
