SCHENECTADY -- A man walking downtown with a friend was stabbed in the abdomen Tuesday evening, and police had detained three suspects in what they called a robbery incident.
The incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. near the intersection of Albany and Schenectady streets when two men were approached by three other men from Albany, who stole property from them, Sgt. Luciano Savoia said. During the robbery, one of the victims was stabbed once in the stomach area, Savoia said.
After the attack, the man who was with the stabbing victim fled and called police. A short time later police apprehended three men, spotted by a city beat officer, walking toward a bus stop at State Street and Nott Terrace.
They were arrested after the uninjured victim identified the three suspects, Savoia said.
The stabbing victim was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery and was expected to survive, police said.
Police found stolen property, several knives, including a "Samarai sword," in the possession of the three men, Savoia said. Police believe a small knife was used in the alleged attack.
"Spotted by a beat cop" who made the collar. We need more City police on a beat not more useless Stratton cameras that never make a collar. Too bad Matt Brockbank was not in the vicinity.
Anyone remember the song where the words are, "...you and me against the world...." Kind of makes me think of DV and Susie. He'd be singing "...you and me against Schenectady...."
Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent. Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.
