In another SS Savage/Mayor SOS "renaissance" development the first home in the formerly prestigious GE Realty Plot was foreclosed and sold at public auction on Friday. The 6400 square, 106 year old mansion, with 4 fireplaces and a 4 car garage, is at 1273 Stratford Road. It sat on the market for years with no takers because of the sickening $18,000 School/City taxes. These taxes are scheduled to go up another 6% because of the current all DEM administration. The former owner fled to Florida to escape Solo Assessor Mastro. If this home was in Saratoga County it would sell for over $759,000. The house which was listed for $379,000 was sold for only $179,000. This will cause a ripple effect with dozens of homeowners filing suits to have their assessment lowered. The DEMS ruining the City still don't get it. Every time they raise taxes they take in less revenue. More people walk away from property and more abandoned homes appear on the City Council no tax paid list. |

Does the purchase price include the back taxes or is that additional? |

DV is still speechless.
Proof of higher taxes under Savage and this is also proof that Schenectady is NOT much improved. But someone is speechless

Hey, how come Susan Savage didn't attend this tax forclousre auction?????? She attends so many other public events in Schenectady.
Shouldn't she have have attended and stood there saying "welcome to Schenecady, now give me your tax dollars so I can hand them over to the millionaires downtown." ???

And where was her "working together" Mayor? The heckle and jeckle of local politics. I can hear SS Savage now; "under the County unified redevelopment team we have handed out tax exemptions up and down State Street. So that we can be here today". Another quote of the month in Lauren Stanforth's TU story, "That's such a shock to have this happen in this neighborhood. You figured there should be someone who would love an old house enough to pay for it," stated Sally Quinn former Plot President. Maybe they don't love outrageous taxes that much? |

This completely shatters the myth perpetuated by the horrible Gazetto and the DEM machine that things are better in the City. Everything is worse-crime is up, violent crime is way up, taxes are up. property values are down, foreclosures are up. You can't sell your property and when you abandoned it some City Hall moron will track you down for another $1,000. Nothing will improve until the DEMS are thrown out of office. Bring on the Alliance Party. Bring on STOP. Anything new is an improvement. |

When is the Gazetto going to report of this latest City fiasco? zzzzz Better pick up a TU for real Schenectady news. Anything that contradicts the "renaissance" myth or Mayor "for life" crapola is never fit to print. |

This would be a good house for the Rep party to use as an office. Is Buchanan still running the party? He should look into this. |

Back in the day they had an office nearby in the GE Realty Plot. Now it's the Alliance Party HQ. |
