I do look forward to them (Hull) trying to explain that one....

(I'm sure our local Pravda will publish a story on this)

He'll repeat the same insanity that the City would have wasted his money so why should he pay? As John MC asked "Will you give other property owners the same option?" NO WAY! Schenectady elites are for themselves. They do not subscribe to any trickle down theories. And if you demand a PILOT they get violent. No wonder attendance at the "Alliance" dog and pony shows has tanked.

Schenectady has the LOWEST household income in the area. Lower than Troy-lower than Albany who do not have a Metrograft. Just what we need more nonprofit solutions? Thank God the NNTP has decided to run a full slate in the City. A team of business people without a nonprofit mooch in the bunch.

This is just proof positive that Schenectady homeowners NEED Pat Zollinger on the council.

Pat Z will serve the citizens of the city and NOT the rich downtown.  She will work for the whole city, not just a few square blocks.

Of course, DV doesn't think so because he is beholden to Susie and would never speak against Susie and in favor of the citizens of the city

Get real, you are a savage puppet.

You have NEVER spoken one word against the fact that the financially struggling homeowners in the city having to pay the property and school taxes of the rich businesses downtown.

You just keep praising and supporting all the taxpayer handouts to the rich and all the other wasteful projects, just ONE example is praising the building of more housing in a city that has a record number of vacant houses, and tons of houses for sale and no buyers

So, DV, tell us what do you say about Hull taking MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of property OFF the tax base - PRECISELY EXACTLY what YOUR dem crony buddy Savage has done with the downtown properties.   Tell us DV, under the Savage/Gillen/Stratton team, tell us WHAT properties have been ADDED to the tax base of the city -- what properties are paying MORE property and school taxes than before the Savage handouts???????   Huh??????

You can't provide an answer because there are NO PROPERTIES in the Savage/Gillen plex projects that are paying more.

Waiting for you to criticize Savage and her taxpayer handouts.  Haven't seen ONE, not ONE WORD of opposition to her stealing from the taxpayers and giving to the rich downtown.  You have NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER said one word of criticism of the theft from the financially strugglling taxpayers.

As a Catholic, what do YOU think Jesus would do?????   Would He take from the financially struggling city homeonwers and give their money to the rich?   I've posted that question a few times and for some strange reason you won't answer it....obviously because you refuse to speak against Savage robbing the homeowners

The importance in nonprofit solutions is that by attracting their money, we can increase the city's revenue without raising taxes for people like you and I. I don't really see any negative side to this.

The trouble is that they are raising taxes because the non profits don't pull in enough money to support themselves so it falls back on the taxpayer to pick up the slack. How much have the taxes increased in the last 5 years, property assessments have skyrocketed even though property values have fallen, and the fees that have been imposed so that the city government doesn't have to call them a tax.

In your dreams.

But once again, you refuse to answer the questions.

1.  Do you support all of Savage/Gillen/Stratton team's increasing of taxes on the financially struggling homeowners in order to totally exempt the rich business property owners downtown???????

2.  Do you support Hull taking MILLIONS of dollars worth of property off the tax base which increases the taxes for the financially struggling homeonwers?

3.  Would Jesus increase taxes on the financially struggling homeonwers and exempt the rich from paying taxes?

4.  What projects in the Savage/Gillen/Stratton time have resulted in the properties paying more taxes than before.

5.  Do you believe in transparency in govt - i.e., telling the taxpayers why their taxes are so high?

Can you just answer these very relevant, highly intelligent questions......these tax exemptions are the MAIN ISSUE that has been kept a secret from the citizens.  The citizens were NEVER told that their property taxes would be increaed to fund Metroplex, they were ONLY told an extra percent of sales tax.

I do. If they pay a PILOT they help increase City revenue-if they don't they use vital services and cost others money. With 159 nonprofits and only 2 paying ANYTHING we have a long way to go. Taking Seward, GE Plot properties, the Ramada Inn and Key Bank permanently off the tax rolls increases revenue? That's the negative side you refuse to see.

People on the Schenectady street are tired of nonprofits that can afford to pay and refuse to get skin in the game. Then drone on and on about what additional burdens the sheeple should bear.

Nonprofits, tax exempt businesses downtown and on Broadway and the street of buildings Union college took off the City tax rolls are murdering the common taxpaying homeowner. Schenectady is forcing the homeowners to help FUND local businesses and non-profits. They have it wrong.

For profit businesses are supposed to ease the tax burden not create it, the same with nonprofits and Union College. Schenectady can't survive economically because they are spending money for places which do not return enough back to the City. Schenectady is bankrupting itself and the taxpayers, period.

I agree with benny. Not only are there non-profits everywhere in the city............count up how many businesses are tax exempt? Pretty  much all of state street miracle mile is!

So who is actually paying the taxes for the city? THE RESIDENTS! And of what benefits are the city residents reaping from these non-profits and tax exempt businesses?

If everyone paid their fair share the oppressive tax burden would be spread over more properties. We have Metrograft handing out tax exemptions like candy Downtown and the nonprofit community busily yanking properties off the City tax rolls.

Union College is a tremendous community asset. The students/staff are wonderful, supporting local businesses helping plant trees and involved in teaching disadvantaged students. Union College has one of the most beautiful campuses in the Nation. They need to start paying a Payment In Lieu of Taxes. RPI, Cornell, Ithaca College, Colgate all do. The excuse that the City "wastes" the money is hilarious. What about the City Schools? What about Police and Fire? We need all hands on deck. Then we can start cleaning out timepieces at City Hall.
