I know very little of this, and would certainly bow to Ms Zollingers knowledge of it - but do they even have a REGISTERED party yet?

The first full slate of opponents to the City DEMS since 2003! That says it all. But the City DEM chair "welcomes opposition"? Don't worry you will get it in spades.

The City sheeple have had enough of pension padding, the $314,000 golf pro, crime and gang explosions, illegal contracts, fiscal incompetence and the do nothing Mayor with his taxpayer JEEP sans medallion. The growing number of sheeple at the City Council rail speaks volumes. Hey Rev-if you can't stand the heat get out of the Council chamber. Don't read this blog because it might offend your liberal sensibilities. Stop defending DEM stooges and acknowledge the righteous indignation of your flock.

will this New Alliance Party run a cat against the Mayor or some other animal ... probably a weasel would
be the most appropriate

The only weasels in Schenectady are already in office.

Hopefully this party and others will run in 2011. The taxpayers are drowning in debt, their neighborhoods are deteriorating and filled with crime and the current administration turns a blind eye to reality. The $10 million dollar downtown is not a fair quid pro quo for the suffering of the taxpayers. It is time for someone to come in and put an end to the blatant corruption which has taken over the City.

I imagine that it will be an interesting election year in the city.  At this stage, I would not want
to make any bets on the outcome.

I will.

Stick a fork in Stratton...  he's done.

(You don't get to be a dean of a top college without being a very good communicator.  I think with Stratton's substantial mistakes, and our massive tax problem, crime problem, etc...  Hull has the edge.)

I have heard nothing as to his intentions ... he may not even be running for reelection.
If he runs,  I wouldn't count him out so easily.    If he doesn't run, the Democrats have a few
strong potential candidates.    So -- I am not making any bets or contributions to campaigns .. just yet.

Well to be honest I just got a lot of amusement out of the "Stick a fork in Sue Savage" postings.

I wanted to be the first to start a new round.

I wouldn't count Stratton out to be honest - but his shady pension dealings will hurt him big time.

If the median city income is $30k, him helping someone make 2.5+ times that...  is a massive PR problem.

The City Democratic Committee is very well organized ..  the City Republican Committee is not.
The "new alliance party" has to get enough petitions signed to get on the ballot -- that is not
an easy task.

I know who I would like to see as the Democratic candidate for Mayor -- but I am keeping that to myself
for now.

YOu are too chicken to make a bet now beause you know that STrattong is done.  Youy KNOW that people are beginning to see realize that Susie/Gillen/Stratton team is robbing them of their future.  People are beginning to learn that their tax money is going for nothing but gin mills and theater.  People can't afford to go to the theater and the gin mills are for rowdy kids.  People are beginning to realize that all this theft from their pockets is causing major increase in crime, major increase in taxes, major cuts in essential city services, and major exodus from the city of the good people who have lived in the city

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

It is pointless to make a bet on the outcome of an election ... when only one candidate has announced
his intentions  and we don't know who the other candidates will be.

Alliance Party Member Burdens Taxpayers with $557,443.89 and Counting
By  A.J. Aviano

Roger Hull, mayoral candidate and his Alliance Party, during the last several weeks has been attempting to convey upon Schenectadians all of the “good things” that his party will do. One of which will be to reduce the tax burden of the citizenry.

On November 13, 2010, Patricia Zollinger posted a video on her blog at http://www.patzollinger.us of all the properties that Roger Hull took off the tax rolls. This forum posted the link as well at http://www.schenectadyinformer.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1289688862. Lauren Stanforth of the Albany Times Union also posted the link with commentary on the Local Politics blog at http://blog.timesunion.com/localpolitics/8269/8269.

In summary, Ms. Zollinger’s contention is that Roger Hull’s Union College removed approximately twenty-five million dollars worth of property from the tax rolls. That maneuver systematically shifted the burden onto the taxpayers.

It would seem that in the spirit of continuing to screw the taxpayers one of Mr. Hull’s party members Brian Merriam follows suit.

You know that nice three story building at 376 Broadway across from the Ten Eyck Apartments? It is one of those fully tax exempt business properties in the City of Schenectady.  The owner of this building is listed as New Schenectady LLC with an address of 1043 Ardsley Road in Schenectady. And you know who owns 1043 Ardsley Road? One Brian Merriam, member of the new Alliance Party.  Mr. Merriam operates his business out of the same building.

The building is assessed at its full market value of $2,210,500. It is a 30,000 square foot three story office building, built by Highbridge Development in 2005. The total tax rate for 2009 was $42.03 per thousand dollars of assessed value. That would bring the total tax obligation for 376 Broadway in 2009 to be $92,907.32 for one year. Apparently taxes have not been due on this property since 2005, the taxpayers have picked up a tab of more than a half million dollars ($557,443.89). .......................>>>>...................>>>>...............http://www.schenectadyinformer.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1292720093

So is the meaning behind the "Alliance Party" to keep its members tax exempt in the future, honoring the tax-evading 'alliances' forged with the current administration?! These folks aren't even registered yet and they're the biggest problems Schenectady faces!

What's next? Phillip Morris and John Marcella starting the "Downtown Schenectady" Party where they promise to put an underground speedrail from Proctors to City Hall?!?

Put a fork in me! I'm burnt.....
