The election season is over ...  "morning in Rotterdam" suggests that just like the dawn of a new day ...
NOW is the time and the opportunity to get some things accomplished.    By reaching out to EVERY resident
regardless of party affiliation, beliefs, income, occupation, or any other "identifying tag"   ......

I am optimistic that Rotterdam can reach new horizons .. can accomplish good things  .. even great things.

Oh God, REVAL comes to mind when you start talking like that.

Most rotterdamians would probably love nothing better than to see their town emerge from the sh!thole it is..................WITHOUT the use of taxpayers dollars, or increasing taxes by even ONE penny and without spot zoning and with a sensible comp plan in place and without the backroom deals with the 'friends and family club' that has plagued rotterdam for decades.

Also this present rotterdam town board appears to be a bit unsettling to say the least.

But beware...... Liberal socialists call 'change' good.....even if it's bad! IMHO of course

let's roll up our sleeves and teach people to drive.  why do they insist on turning left into price chopper
when there is a traffic light 35 feet away?  Can they notice they are blocking traffic flow?  It's not even one
car either, it's multiple cars.  you think they might say to themselves "Gee I think I'll press the gas pedal
and let the traffic light do the work for me"  How about the stop sign at heldeberg rd and church rd?  has anyone noticed how many times people just whiz by that one at 35 mph?  it happened to me twice this week.  so being the concerned citizen that i am i drove that way and you can't see the stop sign.  it's blocked by
some useless bush surrounding a mailbox.  UGH.

I often wondered why they allowed that curb cut to remain  --- if they had closed that off all traffic would
have had to go to the curb cut where the traffic light is located.
Besides the problem of the traffic backing up to turn left into the Price Chopper Plaza --- then the traffic
whizzes past the sub shop and credit union while people are trying to walk from the parking lot to the short
row of small stores there.

Bushes blocking stop signs and other traffic advisory signs -- were in the PAST trimmed by the Town
Highway Department.    Why they don't do that anymore --- is anyone's guess ????

I would suggest that you bring this up to the town board, not that they'll put any energy into looking at it.  After all, it is the current deputy supervisor who mentioned during a meeting out in Rotterdam Junction during his last tenure about something being added to protect the children at Jefferson Elementary School which he still hasn't got back to me on.  The police force doesn't have enough people to enforce the speed limits, even when there is an known issue.  They have 3/4 of a million dollars in the budget for overtime for next year, but they can't catch people speeding outside the front door of their own station.  I know they work hard, this is why I suggested they cut back on the overtime and add some new officers instead.  By stopping the people who are constantly breaking simple laws, they could quickly bring down the tax levy in town.

Actually -- to get the Highway Department to fix the problem -- you have to go after that other elected town
official  --- The Highway Superintendent.

I do, actually, and also the other school zones when I am in them, both in town and outside of town when they apply.  There's also one on Hamburg Street that most people probably don't pay attention to either, but that's not a majorly residential area with the possibility of mowing down children.  Not that the issue would really bother you, would it?

I certainly hope the new horizon that we are all striving for is THE FUTURE AND FOUNDATION BUILDING....no patron 'company startup(rems)' and
certainly STOP THE PILLOW FLUFFING!!!!........

or are we going to turn Rotterdam into a giant nursing home with free bus rides to FDG's compound for Day Out........
