"The number of small businesses offering health insurance to workers is projected to increase sharply this year, recent data show, a shift that researchers attribute to a tax credit in the health law."

MT,
I hope you can find coverage.  If not, the Public Option for HCR may be up for review.  Call your Republican representatives and see if they can vote FOR it this time around.

The Public Option will not leave you with a choice other than take it or leave it. My health-care is between me and my doctor and the government can stay the hell out of my health-care choices.

What pisses me off is some people sit around on their front porch all day, doing nothing except sucking off the govt teet - and get better coverage than I had (paying $500/mo)!  That just boils my a**.

NYS pays more in Social Service benefits than any state in the country and people wonder why the taxes in NY are so high.

But the total number of small businesses declined.  Now you have 1000 uninsured and unemployeed people applying for the 1 job available that offers health benefits.    GO OBAMA!

I pay $1,100 each month.  Why did they cancel your coverage?  That doesn't seem right.

Quoted from the letter:

"As permitted by Section 3221(p)(3)(A) of the New York Insurance Law, Empire is withdrawing your coverage from the NY market beginning December 31, 2010."

I have the option of converting to another plan with Empire (new cost, fewer benefits) which brings my monthly rate to $829, or using COBRA for one year.

Nice, eh?

The insurance companies are already lowering the number of treatments that they cover in order to compete with the companies in the government pool. People supporting the new health-care bill won't realize what's really wrong with the plan until it hurts them and then it'll be too late. The only ones that are making out real well are the uninsured who will eventually be covered by health-care at our expense.

Empire didn't drop you, MT, they dropped the entire area.

Shadow,
The public option will be what ever our legislators want it to be.  T present there is no Public Option... the Conservatives killed it.

That's what you think. The Federal Government is calling the shots on health-care not the states anymore and that's one of the reasons for the lawsuit that has challenged the Obamacare bill. Right now the public option is Medicare/Medicaid .

MT I thought you posted once that you don't live in NYS. If that is true, and assuming I'm remembering correctly, how could you even still be covered under Empire BC/BS any way?
