MYFOXNY.COM - Homeland Security is conducting sweeps on UPS planes at Newark Liberty International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport.

DHS investigating suspicious packages reported on the cargo planes after a potential explosive device was found aboard UPS flight in England.

A law enforcement official briefed on the investigation said officials found something suspicious on a cargo plane in Birmingham, England. But test results for explosives were negative, according to the Associated Press.  That plane was reportedly bound for Chicago.

Homeland Security officials said one of the crew on the cargo plane from Paris, France, landing at Philadelphia around 9 a.m. called authorities thinking a package aboard the plane could have a radioactive makeup, according to MyFoxPhilly.com .

Live video from SkyFoxHD shows about a dozen emergency vehicles on the scene at the Newark airport.  An security worker was seen walking into an adjacent UPS building with a "blast suit".  It was unclear if any suspicious packages were also believed to be inside of that building.

There are unconfirmed reports that the Newark plane had arrived from Yemen.

The Transportation Security Administration says the flights landed safely and are being swept by law enforcement.

The planes were moved away from other airlines and air traffic continues at both airports.

A UPS spokesperson released a statement saying, "There are two UPS planes with "questionable shipments" at Philadelphia Airport and one plane with a "questionable shipment' at Newark airport.  We are working with authorities in this investigation."

A UPS truck in Queens was also being swept for a possible device.

Our wonderful friends, the Muslims no doubt.

"While Foreign Terrorists were plotting to murder and maim using homemade bombs in Boston, Democrap officials in Washington DC, Albany and here were busy watching ME and other law abiding American Citizens who are gun owners and taxpayers, in an effort to blame the nation's lack of security on US so that they could have a political scapegoat."

NO!  Not your wonderful Muslim friends.  Probably Muslim extremists who are NO friend to anyone including mainline Muslims in the community.  I encourage you to put April 4 on your calendar to come to St. Rose to hear John Esposito from Georgetown.  You might learn something.

[Update 12:36 p.m.] Police determined a suspicious package found on a UPS truck at Metro Tech Center, a business center in Brooklyn, did not contain anything harmful, a law enforcement official said.

A package in London, England, that has sparked alarm about cargo arriving into the United States had white powder all over it as well as wires and a circuit card attached, a law-enforcement source said. The package came from Sana, Yemen and was bound for Chicago, Illinois, the source said. Investigators are examining two similar packages - one on a plane in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, and another in East Midlands, in the United Kingdom.

[Update 11:53 a.m.] A suspicious package was found Friday morning at East Midlands Airport in England, authorities said. They did not connect the discovery to the discovery of a suspicious device aboard a plane at London's airport.

A law enforcement source tells CBS News that two packages from Yemen were found on planes that were rigged in some way. One was a UPS plane stopped in the U.K. The other was a FedEx plane stopped in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

A U.S. official told CBS News both planes were searched in response to a specific warning that they were carrying suspicious packages addressed to synagogues or Jewish centers in Chicago.

Authorities say the UPS plane was headed to Chicago from Yemen, and had on-board an ink toner cartridge that looked like it had been converted into a bomb (pictured above). The plane was stopped in the the U.K. Thursday night, CNN reported.

U.K. officials discovered that the toner cartridge had been manipulated and found wires attached to it and white powder. Tests on the device came back negative for explosives, according to a law enforcement official who also spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation.

The UPS plane was held at East Midlands Airport, near Nottingham, England. Police and emergency workers examined the package and lifted the security cordon by mid-morning, but Leicestershire Constabulary later said officers were re-examining it “as a precaution.”

Now they're saying the packages / explosives contained PETN - 2-6x more than the underwear bomber had.

Which is it, they're safe or they had explosives?

I hate "instant media" - too excited to break a story without FACTS.
