What has happened with giving these companies years and years of 0 taxes is one of the main reasons that many favor the disbanding of Metroplex as being unfair to the taxpayer and working against the principles that Metroplex was founded to do which was to increase businesses and reduce taxes and they have failed miserably.

Mike did you get the records from going to the county building or from a website somewhere.  You mention you couldn't get the county site to work.  It is unclear where how you gathered your facts.

They sure sound realistic knowing this county and city.

It was the county website from which I got the information.    What I was trying to say that "wasn't working" was that I would get to the tax info on a specific property, then I copied the link----when I later clicked on that link I got to a sign in page that seemed to indicate I needed a name and password (an internal county site, as opposed to outside the county network).  It took me a few days to gather the info, so I was trying to just save it in Word with just with property owner and tax exemption amount, then I was going to copy the url for the specific page I was on, paste that in Word, to save it.  I did that on a number of properties.  When I opened Word and clicked on a link, I wound up getting that seemingly internal county entry page.

So what I did was just jot down info on these properties, owner name, the name we know, address, and then the assessment value, exemption amount, start date, end date if any and then type the info into Word over the few days, then I could copy and paste the whole think in this message.   I really just kind of wanted to choose more obvious businesses for now.  And of course, not all of the taxpayer funded corporate handouts are completed, so it will be interesting in the years yet to come.  Some places I had to look up the specific address.  Such as Proctors because I didn't see a property description saying "theater" and it's still wierd because Proctors address on their website is the address shown in the info above and is not listed as a theater and is assessed for only $100!   If all that gold leaf and velvet has a full market value of $100, then my house is worth $5.  (five dollars).

Cel, here's the instructions as to how I would get to the tax info on a piece of property

The main page of the website is:    http://www.schenectadycounty.com    and then look at the menu on the top for "Online Services."   Then under that, look for "Real Property Tax Data."   Then click on the link "outside county network."  When you click on that link, you'll get a main page from which you can, for instance, put in a street name, as I did entering State St.  Then I sorted in numerical order (the "house number" column so to speak).  On that screen you'll see info besides the address such as owner name, which municipality within the town, and tax map ID.  Some names are rather obvious as to the ownerhip, some properties use "fake names," obviously to throw off the taxpayers----haha---no, actually many businesses use many different names for whatever reason (sometimes I think it's to protect the money from lawsuit loses I'll bet).

So, click on one property and there are more buttons on the upper left that you can click for more property info, improvements, tax information, etc.  If you click on the "Tax Info" button you get just a couple paragaphs with an OK button.  Click the OK button and on the page that brings you do, scroll down toward the bottom you'll see info about assessed value, the amount of the exemption, when the exemption started, and when it ends if at all

I'm thankful that I don't live in the city, in a way.  Most of these properties are within the city, so in the towns, we are not affected on our school tax bills for example.  We only get socked on the county taxes.  No wonder Schenectady is going down the tubes, contrary to what DV says --- he still is speechless on all this documentation, and isn't it interesting that this city he says is so much improved, he doesn't ever state on these boards why he doesn't buy a house in the city.

Just check the tax rates of the various taxes in the city and then apply that rate to the assessments of downtown properties, the WELL HEELED business owners, businesses, and developers that are receiving tax exemptions on the total value of the property.  It is a CRIME against the taxpayers who struggle every day

I was talking with a guy that sells real estate and he was telling me that Realtors can't sell any properties in the city because every time that the potential buyer sees the taxes they immediately want to look at another area with lower taxes.

Metrograft was founded to increase sales tax revenues, increase jobs and stabilize property values. 3 complete failures. It has devolved into a political slush fund handing out PILOTS like candy, stealing business from  Rotterdam for Downtown. This does hurt everyone in the County since these businesses were once paying full County/town taxes. Metrograft cannot be reformed it must eliminate with the sales tax going directly to the towns/City.

Combine this with the finding that the golf pro at Muni is making $314,000 and you get an idea why the City can't afford basic police and fire protection. The same DEMS feathering their nests for decades. Passing tax breaks and no show jobs to an elite few. Everyone approved the golf pro's salary but now they no nothing. City Hall needs a total barn cleaning just like the City School District.

You can't give any property in the City. If you need further proof drive down Stratford Rd in the GE Realty Plot. Huge mansion with AUCTION SALE sign in front. This will spread Countywide. No buyers-fewer sheeple paying higher taxes.

You want to pay over $24,000 a year for the worst schools and government in Upstate NY? Keep re-electing the same clueless DEM morons.

Auction sale?    As in tax auction?    Living on a street like that generally means you have money to afford nicer things.  But if it's a tax auction, wow.

But DV things Schenectady is "much improved," that is paying $24,000 a year in property taxes is so wonderful.  Gosh, DV, MOST people in the city have total HOUSEHOLD incomes of only a LITTLE more than that.

Now, DV, where are you?????   Can't respond anymore, huh?  Too embarrassed to admit YOU were 100% WRONG about Schenecctady?

When I screw up I do it well.  My apologies.  I think I found the facts so shocking that I just needed to know exactly how and where info was gathered but there is no excuse for insulting your efforts.

Oh, no apologies necessary.  It was past the "modify" time after posting that I read it myself and some of it (referencing the not getting the link) that didn't sound right, but I kind of made an a** out of myself by assuming everyone was totally familiar with the co website, how to use it, etc.  Actually it was a long time before I bothered to click on some of those buttons on the left myself.  I thought I knew less than others and didn't want to be obvious about it.  We all learn things from each other.

This is a complete indictment of Metrograft/Death Ray/SS Savage. Everything is given away-including sales tax revenue. If you buy a box of nails on these alleged redevelopment projects-TAX FREE, No wonder County sales tax revenues keep crashing. Like employment rates and existing home prices.

Don't expect any changes until next November. SS Savage and her rubber stamps still have to site the new County Home. Hello-Curry Rd! Rotterdam "leaders" have been strangely silent on this issue. They are too busy trying to chase small businesses out of town.

They wouldn't DARE bring up the county nursing home beast a week before elections. And we know that the daily rag will stifle any dialog regarding it!!!

I still predict that when savage loses......she will come back with a vengance!!!! She'll be exchanging her BRIGHT PINK SUITS, for a RED SUIT, complete with pitchfork and horns!!!

In 1906 the average lifespan of a person living in America was 46years.....now it is roughly 78.....so in approx 100 years we live longer with more
requirements needed to live that long....we were never prepared for the giant oldness of our country.....now what?

Savage is really scared.   And I think DV has been reporting to her on the comments here.

You've noticed how I have provided the proof from the county website information about all these 100% tax exemptions.  Showing how these exemptions have start dates AFTER Savage started being involved.  And the 100% tax exemptions have beeen given out to millionaires.  And how taxes have gone up for the homeowners.

Earlier, she had a mailer claiming how she re-did all this downtown, how wonderful it is, how taxes are going down.

Today I get one of these flyer things sayig the Farley has caused county taxes to go through the roof.  Gee, I wish someone could provide me the bill number of legislation that he initiated and sponsored that said to increase all these taxes.  But the best thing is she used my exact words saying Farley gives tax breaks to millionaires.

She is really grasping at straws now, she knows dam well that she gave out all these tax breaks to the millionaires downtown which is the direct cause of HUGE HUGE tax increases on the struggling homeowners.

Typical tax and spend dem = take from the lower income and give the tax exemptions to the millionaires.
