I would honestly ban the use of political signs!! REALLY! What are their purpose. This little colored sign on a hanger stuck in the ground. I don't know of one person who drives by a sign or says.....'hey look at that nicely done sign, I think I'll vote for them'!!!!

I mean really! The electorate is already being being bombarded and pressured into listening and reading about these candidate by flooding tv, radio, the internet,  mail boxes and even covering the landscape!! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!

Savage bans texting while driving......why isn't she banning these signs??? Does she honestly think that people should be driving 40+ mph and yet they can take their eyes off the road to read these signs????

Then the ridiculous issues start............
someone stole my sign
someone moved my sign
someone's sign is in front of mine
someone's sign is higher than mine
CALL THE POLICE!!

They should be banned. IMHO

How do you know it was a rep that removed the signs? Maybe it was the property owner?

It was definitely NOT the property owner.  The property owner is now aggravated after giving permission someone felt they could remove the Dem signs.  Not nice.

It just goes to show .. if they can't win an election honestly  they have to resort to dirty tricks.

So far, nobody's proven who removed signs - till then, I'll withhold judgment.  Certainly there's plenty of businesses on Altamont Ave that have cameras that should have picked up something ... Until then, it's just hearsay

Stealing signs is just stupid.  Candidates stick a lot of their money into getting their message out via this venue.  Stealing signs, on either side, just frosts me.

No MT--it is NOT hearsay.  The signs are gone.  Both parties had their signs their and now the Dem signs are gone and all that is left are the Reps.  SOMEONE took them.  I doubt the Dems removed their own signs.

GrahamB suggested in another thread: http://www.rotterdamny.net/m-1281899740/s-135/#num141  that the town took them down.

If they're missing, someone took them down, I agree - but it's a bit of a stretch to say "Reps took them" isn't it?  Did anyone see it? Certainly on Altamont Ave someone should have seen SOMETHING?  If not, then making an accusation like "reps did it" is just, well, wrong.

All over town they have been cleaned off he right of way! I think that on that property there, the twon workers assumed it was town property!

MT--get a grip.  Why would the Dems take down their own signs?  Why would the town take down the Dem signs and leave up the Reps.  Not good thinking.  Well maybe a Conservative did it.  But it wasn't the Dems.  They took down ALL the Dem signs.  Someone clearly knew what they were doing.

Well then the owner would welcome the Town mowing the lawn and picking up the huge amount of trash that is left there.  The Mobil station has cameras but not aimed at that property.

Exactly!  So why do you think they would remove the signs?

Just doesn't make sense to me. There's quieter streets for this to happen on, where there'd be no risk of anyone being seen.  As I said, I'm not convinced.

When rep signs were being snatched off lawns, there were people all around blaming the dems. I believe it was Kelly Rhinesmith that actually caught someone doing it and called the cops.  I remember one other instance in the past few years, but not the details of it, or who was accused, etc.

My point is, I'd say it's a bit too early to start blaming anyone - or any party.

Just out of curiousity, how many signs were on this one property?  I hope it wasn't an eyesore like the 5 corners getty. Trying to see around those signs was a PITA.

Sure it was an eyesore.  Both parties had their signs there.  So many you couldn't count them.  At least they asked for permission.  I asked Kelly if she knew who would do it.  Be logical, the Dems would not remove their own signs.
