SCHENECTADY -- A dentist in Rotterdam is charged with forcibly touching female patients under his care, State Police said.
Police say Frank Izzo, 52, inappropriately touched several teenagers and one woman in her 20s. Izzo, of Nelson Avenue, Schenectady, was arrested Tuesday morning as he arrived at his office at 3049 Broadway in Rotterdam, State Police in Princetown said. Police searched his office and secured computers and records.
Izzo was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, police said. He was arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court and taken to Schenectady County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at 4 p.m. Monday in Rotterdam Town Court.
Troopers are encouraging the parents of females who have visited Izzo to speak about their experiences. Anyone with concerns is asked to call State Police at 630-1700.
ROTTERDAM Accused dentist’s license suspended Report: Employees back patient claims of improper contact BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
The dentist license of Frank Izzo, who is accused of repeatedly inappropriately touching young female patients, has been suspended by the state, according to a report fi led this week. The report also includes allegations that Izzo had an inappropriate relationship with a woman who was described as a patient who is learning disabled. E m p l o y e e s have backed the claims of the patients, alleging Izzo “repeatedly and intentionally placed his hand on the breasts of numerous female patients,” the report reads. Izzo, 52, a longtime dentist who had an office on Broadway in Rotterdam, did not object to the summary suspension of his license, according to the paperwork. But Izzo did deny the allegations themselves. Law enforcement authorities were monitoring the state proceedings, prosecutor Jessica Lorusso confi rmed Wednesday. Had Izzo opposed the suspension or attempted to start practicing again, authorities had plans to fi le more charges, Lorusso said. State police have previously placed the number of accusers at seven. The licensing report by the state Education Department suggests that number has grown to nine. ...............................>>>>...................................>>>>......................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00102&AppName=1
ROTTERDAM Dentist admits to touching teenagers BY STEVEN COOK Gazette Reporter
A former Rotterdam dentist admitted in Town Court Monday night to touching the breasts of two teenage patients during exams. Frank Izzo, 53, who once practiced on Broadway in Rotterdam, pleaded guilty before Justice Kenneth Litz to one count each of second- and third-degree sexual abuse, both misdemeanors. In exchange for his plea, Izzo is to be sentenced in December to six months in jail. He also must surrender his dentist license and register as a sex offender. Appearing in Town Court with his attorney, Andrew Safranko, Izzo paused before saying “guilty” to each of the two charges. In the seconddegree sexual abuse case, Izzo admitted to touching a 13-year-old girl on her breast during a September 2009 dental exam. In the third-degree sexual abuse case, Izzo admitted to touching a 16-year-old girl in the same manner. Izzo had faced up to two years in jail, had he taken the case to trial, prosecutor Jessica Lorusso said later. She said she researched whether more serious charges could be fi led based on the allegations, touching patients as young as 13 in a dentist office setting, but said she and an investigator could find none. Cases with such allegations become felonies only when the age of the victim is 11 or ..................>>>>.........................>>>>...................http://www.dailygazette.net/De.....r00901&AppName=1
