What's up with the old Ground Round on State near the crosstown?  Why isn't that building attracting any new businesses?

There's gotta be something behind it other than a slow economy, it's been vacant for years

High taxes and high crime for starters! But I'm sure if the Metroplex offers a business a zero % loan and an elicit tax break, they'd move in.

High Taxes.

Ya, agreed - BUT, Metroplex isn't trying to lure anyone with a tax break?  Something about this property just isn't transparent - there's gotta be something more to it.

It's not in the right area for them to be concerned.  There's not rampant crime, so they don't want to bring in the business to cover it up.

There was a sign in front for years "Closed for Remodeling". There are dozens of empty businesses along Upper State in Woodlawn. The DEMS death grip on our local economy continues. With it's easy highway access possible new County Home site?

The property, if combined with the fleabag, prostitute infested, criminal harboring no-tell motel next door, would be a great location for Walgreens.  Oh wait - they tried that and the city didn't want new retail - now I remember.

Maybe the city should just build a brothel and sell pot there as well.

The Ground Round chain had financial problems ... it was the same chain that owned the Howard
Johnsons restaurants and motels.

Ya, I'm aware of why it closed, just wondering why nothing has taken it's place

Oh, but shouldn't your Savage give them money?   Just like YOUR buddy socialist gave away our money not once, but TWICE to the failed VanDyck.

YOur Savage could give a RICH hotel chain money AND make the low income homeowners pay the taxes on this multimillion dollar wealthy business.

And YOUR Savage robbed the taxpayers blind to give money to the failed Big House

So, DV, explain why they shouldn't give away our money to this place too.  Hey, not that I want my money to go to wealthy private businesses, but what's the difference of giving money to downtown failures but not to uptown failures?

Optimists close their eyes and pretend problems are non existent.
Better to have open eyes, see the truths, acknowledge the negatives, and
speak up for the people rather than the politicos and their rich cronies.

You can't see it out the window from the county legislature meetings.

This could make another useless pocket park for Mayor SOS and the idiots on the City Council. So what if they can't maintain any of the current parks? The "reporters" at the Gazetto will cite this as another sign of "renaissance". Nothing will go there because with the current tax disaster nothing could turn a profit.

The international company that owned Ground Round ceased its operations in 2005.   There is no logical
or intelligent way that one can blame the failure of an INTERNATIONAL COMPANY on issues in Schenectady
or the political leaders of Schenectady.

Since you folks are ignorant of the facts regarding the closing of the Ground Round, I am safe in saying
that you don't know squat about what efforts may or may not have been attempted by either the city or
Metroplex to find a new occupant for the location.
