ROTTERDAM - Rotterdam Police have arrested and charged a woman following two car crashes Saturday morning, one of them involving a police cruiser. Police have identified that suspect as 42-year old Kimberly Cooper. They said she was high on drugs and driving with a suspended license.
Police said they received a call for a reckless driver on Altamont Avenue in the Town around 10:30am. According to authorities, Officer Anthony Williams located and attempted to stop Cooper's vehicle northbound on Crane Street.
Police said during the stop, Cooper's vehicle crossed the center line on Crane Street striking a southbound vehicle. The crash caused that car to spin into Officer William's car. Cooper then continued north on Crane and was in a second accident with a car nearby.
Cooper was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs, driving while her driving privilege was suspended, reckless driving, reckless endangerment and failure to keep right. Police said the investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
Officer Williams was injured in the accident and was taken to Ellis Hospital where he was treated and released.
