Well someone keeps posting on this website that Schenectady has a 60% unemployment -- that is what I was responding to.  Even in the worst part of the Great Depression, we did not hit 60% unemployment.

On the news , either Friday or Saturday was the statement -- that IF the State of New York paid for
Medicare out of the State budget  (like every other state does) rather than shifting the cost down to
the counties --- our county property tax would be cut by 50%.

New York has it wrong 2 ways ----  
#1)   it shifts the Medicare cost to the counties who can only levy a
property tax and sales tax   ... the poorest counties or the oldest counties -- Schenectady has either
the highest or among the highest concentration of BOTH  poor and older persons THUS our medicare
costs are through the roof.

#2) it has the "Cadillac" of medicare programs ...  while it is well intentioned to take care of the poor
and elderly among us ... isn't it time to look at each portion of the medicare program and determine
what is essential  and should be kept ... what is nice but only if we have the money to pay for it .. and
what is not needed at all no matter how much money we have ???

I think 60% of Schenectady county stands in line for 'the extras'------if you want to call it that.......anyhow un-employment or
under-employment are the same in this county.......

Savage is an Incumbent - albeit in a different office, she's part of the problem. She'll see the rage during her next run for County Legislature. She's already seeing it in her polls, which are in the toilet. The best is yet to come.
