I copied this from another topic, as I realize it didn't fully apply there, but thought people would want to know about it.
Bumble, I find it quite interesting that you brought up the fact of "supremely paved roads." Do you realize what the county did in order to try to get a few extra votes? Well, their highway department decided to pave roads ON ELECTION DAY. Now, usually, I wouldn't find this as much of an issue, except for the timing of her releasing the amount of the "major savings" we're going to have. The one problem? Well, with paving this county road, for a period of time, they were actually blocking people from getting to their polling place!
The next day, they came through and paved the other side of the road. While the citizens were not told there was going to be a time that you wouldn't be able to get in or out of your driveway, or even get onto my road, I must say that after talking to some of the people at REMS on Wednesday night, at least THEY were informed that the road would be blocked. They had other plans, working out of the eastern station. Good thing there was no major issue on our road that they were needed for. Now, we just have to get the county to pay for the damage they did to the lawn of the school.
The road still is not fully complete at this time. |

Tommasone did the same thing last year and two years before that -- had the Highway Dept paving roads the week before Election Day. That was the only time you saw him in Town Hall except at board meetings. |

I don't remember it being ON an election day, though. I do remember that he had a plan to repave every single town road in the town, though. |

ahhhhhh.....America where the streets are paved in gold.....black gold that is......but, in Rotterdam we like to 'study' it then take no real action other than facades and planters....... |
