I am sometimes answering more than one post at a time... Since this is a Conservatives Message Board, I get double teamed a lot of the time.

We agree on Iraq. I don't think staying for another year will add any security or advantage in Iraq.  The Iraqis had an election 6 months ago, and the new govt still hasn't taken office... maybe never will.

A political solution in Afghanistan is possible but not likely.

As far as taking out the "Taliban once and for all"  we've been trying for years. So did the Russians and they got their butt kicked.  Pakistan is bad enough as an half a$$ed ally ... add them as an enemy and we'd lose there for sure.

If you want to win in Afghanistan, then start the military draft today... in a year and a half send the bulk of our military to Afghanistan and settle in for an occupation that will last 20 or 30 years minimum.  
Is that what you really want to do.  It would be playing into the hands of our enemies and not guarantee success.

Diplomacy is the answer (if there is one) in Afghanistan.

I'm not saying make Pakistan an enemy, the reason we put with their double faced crap comes down to one phrase...nuclear capable..

Pakistan as a radical state makes no sense to us, or the Russians. We should work with the Russians to convince Pakistan that their best interest lie in rooting out the Taliban..
One thing that would go a LONG way is cutting off arms shipments from Iran..everyone knows its happening, its the 800lb gorilla in the room.

In every case, peace is the answer.  Seldom is war the answer, or at least not beyond the short term.

Killin is easy...War is way easier than a real peace... but Peace is worth the work.

What exactly IS a terrorist? I'm sure that discussion could go on forever......however, I AM American.....there will ALWAYS be war somewhere ALL the time...

as for the best leader of war,,,,that would depend on the winning of one......it's easy to be the defenders of other folks(one ALWAYS looks the hero)....
