I am confident in my ability to carry out the duties of First Deputy Town Clerk and, someday, Town Clerk.

Too bad you won't have that chance...there will be no more deputy clerks hired...and you won't beat Lynn if she runs.

Dream on, buddy!   Let us know what time you want us to wake you up...we'll set the alarm for you!

In the interim, show me the "oval" for Lynn so I can fill it in on my ballot

For the record,  the town does have a Town Clerk .. the next scheduled election for a Town Clerk
is in 3 years.   I agreed to accept Mrs. Esposito's appointment of me as First Deputy Town Clerk
but have made NO decision regarding running for Town Clerk in the future.
While it is an office that I would be interested in,  any future candidacy depends on winning the endorsement of my party (and hopefully of others .. and I would welcome the GOP endorsement
too   -- just like my Uncle George had when he ran for reelection as County Surrogate in 1983.)

It may very well be that Ms. Marco (who would be more than qualified) may decide to run for Town Clerk -- we have never had that discussion .. or some other Democrat may wish to run .. and I
may prefer to remain on as First Deputy Town Clerk to that person. -- or may have interest in a
different political or non-political position  (public sector and/or private sector).

Bottomline -  Mrs Esposito is the elected Town Clerk and I look forward to working for and with her
for as many years as she chooses to be Town Clerk.

I'm sure your buddies will take care of you - like they did for Mizz Marco, public or private.

Who really gives a crap about a town clerks position? I mean really....the position does not propose or pass any  legislation or laws. They have NO vote on ANYTHING!  It's just a CLERKS position that requires a notary.   And they must know the alphabet so they can file accurately!

The position gives out garage sale permits and files them for God's sake!!!

It should clearly be a 'test taking' position....NOT ELECTED! It just becomes a popularity contest like all other elections in rotterdam. Qualifications don't count in rotterdam!!

Why would this Lynn even want to get involved in the corrupt cesspool of rotterdam politics. IMHO

Wouldn't the same be said for the Receiver of Taxes also?  That office hands out leaf bags and is busy 2-3mos a year.  Just asking.

The position of Town Clerk is established as an elected position by NYS Law -- so a town can not
unilaterally turn it into a civil service position.

There are actually a lot of responsibilities given to the position of Town Clerk -- among these are maintaining all of the towns records, preparing the written agenda for Town Board meetings,
issuing permits and licenses, and - in towns without a Receiver of Taxes - collecting taxes.

The Town Clerk gets a perfomance evaluation every 4 years - it is called a General Election -
and Mrs. Esposito won by an overwhelming vote.   I think that says a lot about the confidence
that the residents have in her performance.

Again - you can't make a rational argument for your position so you resort to junior high
name calling -- you are a typical RepubliCAN'T.

The town clerk could actually slow an administration down or 'cause' it's ineffectiveness.....look up the role of town clerks in NYS......they are the
fishing line between the town,county,state....
